Long before he became a defining name in sporting art, John Frederick Herring was simply a young coachman driving the mail coach from London to Doncaster, stealing moments to paint. When the Doncaster Gazette commissioned him to capture the winners of the iconic St. Leger Stakes from 1815 onward, it launched a legendary chapter in sporting art.

This collection features 12 archival reproductions of these magnificent hand-colored portraits. A true celebration of the history, turnout, and timeless tradition of the turf. 🇬🇧🎨
