Creating a unique blend of handmade goods and such with a focus on crochet, jewlery, 3d printing, candles, journals and anything else that catches my attention. In Scottish folklore it was tradition to plant the tree near the front gate or front door of your home for protection against evil supernatural beings. Birds would often eat the fruit of the rowan tree and spread the seeds through their dr
oppings. If such a seed would happen to fall into a crevice of a larger tree with other debris and sprout, growing into a new Rowan tree this would be called a Flying Rowan as its roots never touch the ground. These Flying Rowans were considered to be especially potent against witches and their magic. Hence a Flying Rowan was considered to be a charm of luck and protection. When I originally started to crochet I was inspired by my mother and my grandmother. They had both created crochet blankets that I snuggled in as a child during the summer thunderstorm and slept under peacefully through many years of my life. I have memories of my mother crocheting diligently away on the couch after a long day just as she has of her mother in a peaceful family home. The Flying Rowan to me means prevention and protection against anything that may cause a disruption to the peace in the family home. Protected and safe from the thunderstorm or the monsters under my bed. I hope to share that feeling with generations to come with my handmade products and crochet blankets. To keep the craft of crochet alive for another generation and to provide handmade, quality workmanship. Not everything these days needs to be mass produced in a factory, to me that just takes the charm out of it.
