An original piece of art is more than something beautiful to hang on a wall. It is a tangible connection to the artist who created it 🎨

Every brushstroke was placed by hand. Every variation in color, texture, craquelure, and even the imperfections that come with age becomes part of the piece’s individual story 📚

The Young Bacchus with Grapes
American School, Oil on Canvas, Unsigned
Circa 1865-1880, Framed: 16.5” W x 19.5” H
$395

An appealing Victorian painting depicting a young child holding clusters of dark grapes amid trailing grapevine leaves 🍃

Although conceived as an allegorical figure, the child is painted with the direct gaze and individualized presence of a portrait 🖼️

Cameos are elegant refined miniature sculptures steeped in history. These miniature works of art have adorned jewelry for centuries. Each one carrying a little piece of the past ✨

The art of cameo carving reaches back to the ancient world. Experiencing a revival during the 18th and 19th centuries. Many were carved from shell, while others were created from hardstone, coral, lava, and other materials. They could depict elegant women, Greek and Roman gods and goddesses, mythological scenes, historical figures, flowers, animals, and even personal portraits ✨

Cameos have survived changing fashions and generations of owners. Part of their magic is the extraordinary skill of the artist. No two hand carved cameos are exactly alike. That’s what makes these miniature works of art so fascinating to collect ✨

Not simply jewelry.
A miniature sculpture.
A piece of history.
A story you can wear. 🖤

Known for its alluring prismatic display of color, each stone unvails flashes of blue, green, pink, gold, and fiery orange ✨

As October’s birthstone, opal has long been connected with hope, creativity, love, and good fortune. And because no two opals display color quite the same way, an opal ring or pendant feels wonderfully unmatched ✨

Whether you’re celebrating an October birthday, searching for a meaningful gift, or simply have a weakness for opals, these beauties deserve a closer look ✨

New in our Pike Street store in beautiful downtown Cynthiana, KY!

After Antonio da Correggio — Adoration of the Christ Child
Italy, 19th century, after the original of c. 1524–1526
Oil on canvas, unsigned; period Florentine-style giltwood frame
Frame 39" W x 44.5" H x 2" D; sight 32" W x 26" H
$2,950

Antonio Allegri, called Correggio after his native town, led the Emilian Renaissance, admired for a luminous, tender manner joining Leonardo's sfumato to Venetian color. His Adoration of the Christ Child (c. 1524–1526, Uffizi Gallery, Florence) sets aside the crowded Nativity of the period. No shepherds, no angels: the Virgin kneels alone before her newborn son, the light rising from the Child himself — drawn from the Nativity vision of St. Bridget of Sweden.

The original entered the Medici collection in 1617, a gift from the Duke of Mantua to Cosimo II de' Medici, and hung for two centuries in the Uffizi's Tribuna. It appears there beside Raphael's Madonna of the Chair in Johann Zoffany's celebrated The Tribuna of the Uffizi (1772–1777), painted for Queen Charlotte.

Such fame made it among the most copied devotional images in Europe, Florentine painters working before the original for collectors and pilgrims. This canvas belongs to that tradition: a full-scale master copy, faithful in its palette of lapis blue, deep rose and olive, and in the Virgin's quiet concentration.

Condition consistent with age: craquelure, accretions, stretcher marks, slight loss of canvas tension, small reinforced areas at the knee, old varnish under UV; frame with chips and losses.

New in our Pike Street store! Two small Pre-Columbian pottery whistles from ancient Costa Rica — and remarkably, both still work.

These unassuming little objects are roughly 700 to 1,100 years old, and each has quite a story to tell. Hand-modeled centuries ago, they combine sculpture, sound and symbolism in pieces that were meant to be held, used and heard.

Each has its own wonderfully expressive form and personality, shaped by hand in the ceramic traditions of ancient Central America.

They are a perfect reminder that you never quite know what you may find at Fibonacci Antiques — sometimes a remarkable piece of history is only a few inches long.

Come visit us in Cynthiana, KY and see what you discover. With two stores full of antiques, vintage, jewelry and art, there is always something unexpected waiting around the next corner.
