The best time to call an interior designer? Way before you think you need one.

A beautiful finished space doesn’t just happen. There are hundreds of decisions happening behind the scenes, and the earlier we’re involved, the more intentional those decisions can be.

Planning is one of the most important parts of any project. It gives us time to think through the details, anticipate what’s coming, source the right pieces and create a process that feels seamless from start to finish.

So even if your renovation or new build feels way down the road, it’s not too early to start the conversation.

We’re already nearly booked for 2026 and starting our planning for 2027 (wow!) so if a project has been on your mind, now is the time to reach out.

I could keep going...kinda chic to...

Kinda chic to have strong opinions about wallpaper.
Kinda chic to mix patterns that probably shouldn’t work, but do.
Kinda chic to choose the weird vintage piece over the safe one.
Kinda chic to design a home for actually living in, not just looking pretty on Instagram.
Kinda chic to trust your gut and make your home feel like you.

What’s something you do that’s kinda chic?

When people think about hiring an interior designer, they usually picture picking paint colors and furniture.

The reality? That’s just a tiny fraction of what we do.

My full service design process means every detail is thoughtfully planned and managed, from the first concept to the final styling day. Space planning, custom cabinetry, materials, lighting, furnishings, communication with vendors, tracking thousands of details, solving problems before you ever know they exist… so you can actually enjoy creating your home instead of feeling overwhelmed.

The goal isn’t just a beautiful home. It’s creating a home that works beautifully for the way your family lives.

I’m curious… what do you think takes up the most time behind the scenes of a full service design project? Leave your guess in the comments. 👇

If this gave you a new perspective on what an interior designer really does, like, save, and share this with someone planning a renovation.

Right now it’s giving… absolutely nothing. 😅

But give us a little time, and this space is about to become the dreamiest, moodiest laundry and mudroom. Think rich colors, beautiful millwork, smart storage, and enough personality to almost make laundry feel fun.

Almost.

Because let’s be honest, I can design a gorgeous laundry room, but I still can’t make the socks find their matching pair.

Follow along for the transformation. This before and after is going to be a good one.

A client looked at me yesterday and asked, “How could anyone do this without a designer?”

I told them something that usually surprises people.

You absolutely can renovate your home without hiring an interior designer.

But you’ll have a different outcome.

A designer isn’t there because a renovation is impossible without one. We’re there to help you avoid costly mistakes, think through details before they’re built, create a cohesive vision, coordinate hundreds of decisions, and make sure your investment reaches its full potential.

It’s the difference between getting your project done and getting it done exceptionally well.

Do you agree, or would you answer differently? Let me know in the comments.

AI can create a beautiful rendering in seconds. But it can’t walk into a home and understand how a family actually lives. It can’t catch a measurement that’s off by an inch, pivot when a product is discontinued, coordinate the hundreds of moving pieces during a project, or problem solve on a job site when things don’t go as planned.

AI is an incredible tool, and I use it often. But replacing an interior designer? Okay… I’m waiting.

You’re welcome. This is reality.

Instagram is full of perfectly styled homes, but here’s the truth… many interior designers don’t live in perfectly finished spaces.

We’re so busy designing, sourcing, installing, and obsessing over every detail in our clients’ homes that our own homes often end up at the bottom of the list.

My house is lived in. It gets messy. Projects pile up. There are toys, art supplies, laundry, and plenty of spaces that are far from photo ready. And honestly, that’s okay. Home is meant to be lived in, not staged 24/7.

If this made you feel a little better about your own home, give it a like. Then tell me… what’s the room you’re most likely to hide from Instagram?

I’ll go first: My kitchen/art room. They look like a creative explosion happened. 🤪

The finished room might be what everyone sees, but the real work happens long before installation day.

Sourcing isn’t just shopping. It’s researching hundreds of options, requesting samples, comparing quality, checking lead times, confirming dimensions, coordinating with vendors, and making sure every piece works together as one cohesive design.

Those behind the scenes details are what turn a beautiful room into a thoughtfully designed home.

What part of the design process would you like to see more of behind the scenes?

Full Home Presentation today and it’s a fun one!

To do a full home, it’s take time, planning, more planning and more planning then it’s time to execute.

As a culture today we need everything done yesterday, but good design does not happen over night. In fact fast design costs more money. If you makes decisions on the fly you may regret them and then spend more money changing them. Oh and change orders-those aren’t cheap!

Trust the process and enjoy the ride!🤍
