Earlier this summer our team headed to La Jolla for a VIP experience with Brizo, and it did not disappoint.

Dinner at The Marine Room with the Pacific right outside the window. A catamaran afternoon on the water. A stay at Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa. And somewhere in between, a water tasting that turned into one of the more unexpectedly fascinating moments of the trip. Brizo put different water sources side by side, each with varying TDS levels, the measure of mineral content in water. Turns out, the higher the number, the more mineral flavor you get, and most of us were firmly in the low TDS camp.

When a faucet brand makes you rethink water itself, they are doing something right. Thanks again for having us, Brizo!

Hale Hokuala Kauai opens this October, and we are proud to have designed the interiors of the first Curio Collection by Hilton property in Hawaii.

The resort's name means House of the Rising Star, and every design decision was made to honor that connection to place. A nature-inspired palette of sand, greenery, sky, and water. Natural textures throughout. Spacious private balconies that bring in light and trade-wind breezes. Spa-inspired bathrooms designed to feel like a residential retreat rather than a hotel room.

210 guestrooms and 23 suites, situated amid lush landscape with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, Nāwiliwili Bay, and Hāʻupu Mountain.

Hyrum Worth first joined us as an intern in the summer of 2024, and we are pleased to welcome him back to Looney & Associates as a Designer.

A recent graduate of Utah State University with a Bachelor of Interior Architecture and Design, Hyrum is eager to hit the ground running designing projects all over the world, including in his home state of Oregon.

Nashville Yards continues to take shape, and we are proud to be part of another project in this development alongside Southwest Value Partners.

The concept plan for 51 Platform Way, a proposed 35-floor mixed-use tower, just received unanimous approval from the Metro Planning Department's Downtown Code Design Review Committee. At approximately 515 feet, the high-rise will bring 620,000 square feet of Class A office space and ground-level retail and restaurant to one of Nashville's fastest-growing corridors.

Looney & Associates is serving as the interior design team alongside architect Gensler.

Our Dallas Studio has been so fortunate to have Design Intern, Lucas Sabillon with us this summer.

Lucas is an incoming senior at the University of North Texas studying Interior Design, on track to graduate in May 2027. Since joining us in late May, he has been getting hands-on experience across a range of projects while working alongside the Looney & Associates team.

Lucas recently said, "I've enjoyed being able to gain hands-on experience in the design field and getting feedback from industry professionals."

That is exactly the kind of summer we hope every intern walks away with. We are glad you are here, Lucas.

Last week our Dallas studio wrapped up their Q2 giveback at Piedmont Global Academy, a Dallas ISD school navigating a unique situation this year. With their building undergoing renovations, teachers were relocated to a temporary campus and inherited their classrooms late, which meant their wishlists came together a little later than usual.

We showed up with our partners at Outpost Hospitality, Garrett Leather, and Phillip Jeffries to help set up bulletin boards, get classrooms ready, and make sure teachers were fed during in-service week. But with school just getting started, there is still a great opportunity to support them directly.

A major milestone for a project we are proud to be part of. The Miyako Hybrid Hotel Plano has officially topped out, with an opening set for October 2027.

The $117.5 million Japanese-inspired property is one of the most distinctive hospitality projects coming to the Dallas Fort Worth area, and watching it reach its maximum height is a moment worth celebrating.
