Evidence that every memory from the month of August was incredible! I can’t believe this was all just one month!

Selling it all to live full-time aboard a sailboat wasn’t easy, but the journey has been beautiful!

Before buying our catamaran, to live aboard full time, I full well believed that if we were anchored, we would be holding still. Wow was I naive! 🤣

So many days over the past year have been spent anchored and most of the time we are riding the waves and current. Some have been so bad that it actually felt as though we were underway and it made me feel so sick!

We learned pretty quick that we needed to find protected anchorages, check wind and current directions for the days we would be there, and based on that info, choose our anchorage wisely!! 🌊

Imagine my surprise when I went to make a loaf of sourdough, and there were tiny little bugs all over my flour!! YUK! 🤢

Turns out flour tends to have tiny little microscopic eggs in the packaging, but they only hatch when it’s hot and humid! Which is of course the consistent temperature of our boat. The perfect environment for flour mites.

So help a girl out! What are your tips and tricks for keeping them out of your flour while stored on a boat?! Please share below 🙏🏼👇🏻

Pretty sure this adds up to about 2 hours of my life each month lol! ⏰

Who would’ve thought that so much of my time living full time on a sailboat as a family of 6 would be spent flushing toilets! 🤪⛵️

You have to fill them with water too! So technically it’s about 10 seconds filling and 30 seconds flushing! Smells great too 🤢😝

I wouldn't even say some, I would say most lol! I had no idea that pretty much every time I'd step on that dinghy, I was gonna get soaked or rocked! Definitely no room for a cute outfit or styled hair. Forget about it lol! 😝

Also... "sometimes the dinghy rides are rough and wet."-

Today, boat life was 💩.

Everything that could go wrong… did.
One thing after another. After another.

And honestly? These are the days that make you question everything.

The lifestyle.
The boat.
The decision to sell the house and walk away from “normal.”

Because boat life isn’t always turquoise water, sunsets, and barefoot adventures.

Sometimes it’s fixing things you don’t understand, spending money you didn’t plan to spend, and wondering why the heck you thought this was a good idea in the first place. 😂

All of our cruising friends warned us that season one is the absolute HARDEST and they weren’t kidding. 😮‍💨

But maybe that’s the real adventure.

Tomorrow is another day. Another sunrise. Another chance to remember why we chose this life in the first place. 🌊

selling the house.
selling almost everything we owned. 
pulling our kids out of public school. 
buying a sailboat without any experience.
moving 6 people aboard.
and sailing to the Bahamas. 🌊

Not because it was practical.
Not because it made sense.

Because we finally realized…
