As many of you have probably guessed, the design and decor industry is considered non-essential. I completely agree with that categorization during a crisis like the one we face. But as a self-employed contractor (i.e. no unemployment, sick leave, vacation time, etc) I'm not going to lie and pretend I'm not worried about my ability to make ends meet as we wait this out. However, my tried and true recipe for alleviating that particular strain of anxiety is to throw myself into helping others. To that end, I'm committing to spotlighting other small businesses who could use your support, asking for your feedback as we all navigate this new territory, and whatever else I'm inspired to do in the coming days/weeks. Please check back, help spread the word, and engage when inspired. This is a space for inspiration, help, healing, and positivity. Any comments that are disrespectful, mean, or inflammatory will get deleted and users blocked. Doesn't mean we can't have a good laugh, and if you know me, gallows humor is my middle name, but there will be boundaries.
So, to start things off, and for those of you getting used to home brewing in lieu of your daily coffee run, please check out Clayton Coffee and Tea. Everything about this company is fantastic...from products, to business model of supporting their growers, to customer service. Based in Modesto, but family owned right here in the Bay Area. I don't even like coffee, but their Organic Mexico Chiapas makes the best mochas, and I'm a huge fan of their Spiced Rooibos tea. But don't ask me...ask my sister-in-law, a coffee connoisseur extraordinaire from Europe, who's on her second year of a monthly subscription. And right now, to ease our pain of life being a little topsy-turvy, they're offering free shipping. Check them out, and thank me later.
