Do you have windows that leak during heavy storms? Unfortunately our company does not address this issue. We suggest calling the Window company who installed the windows originally.

Common causes include:

Worn or cracked caulk around the window frame.
Damaged weatherstripping that allows wind-driven rain inside.
Clogged or blocked weep holes (small drainage openings in the window frame).
Improper flashing or installation, which can let water get behind the window.
Roof or siding leaks that appear to be coming from the window but originate elsewhere.

Replacement may be the better option if:

The window frame is rotted, warped, or severely damaged.
The insulated glass seal has failed and the window is old.
The window was improperly installed and cannot be effectively resealed.
The windows are nearing the end of their lifespan (often 20–30 years, depending on the material).

What you can do now:
Inspect for cracked or missing exterior caulk.
Check for water stains, peeling paint, or soft wood around the window.
If it's safe, make sure the window's weep holes are clear.
During the next rainstorm, note exactly where the water first appears. This can help identify whether the leak is from the window or from another part of the home's structural exterior.

If the leak only occurs during heavy, wind-driven rain, it's often a sign of a flashing or installation issue rather than a failed window itself.

It depends on how old the windows are, what's wrong with them, and your goals (saving money, improving energy efficiency, or increasing home value). Here's a practical way to decide:

Repair is usually the better choice if:
The windows are less than 15–20 years old.
The problem is minor, such as:
Broken hardware (locks, cranks, latches, balancers)

Windows that stick or won't stay open
The frames are still solid and show no signs of rot or warping.
You want the lowest upfront cost.

Replacement is often worth it if:
The windows are 20–30+ years old.
Multiple windows have problems.
The frames are rotted, warped, or structurally damaged.
You have persistent drafts despite repairs.
You're looking to significantly reduce heating and cooling costs.
You're planning to sell your home in the next few years and want to improve curb appeal.
Cost comparison
Repair: Typically $100–$600 per window, depending on the issue.
Glass replacement: Often $200–$800 per window.

A good rule of thumb:
