Do you ever just get a hankering to make something new? 😂

Mabel and I have been very into making these beautiful hand-beaded bracelets lately, and I think it’s safe to say we’re hooked. ✨

Picking out all the different beads, putting together color combinations, and seeing how each one turns out has been so much fun, especially getting to do it together. ❤️

Because apparently I needed another hobby, but this one is actually relaxing! 😂

Our little piece of heaven. ❤️🌽🌅

One thing about farming is that vacations aren’t always easy to come by. Not only do cows need milking and feeding but the more skilled things still need to be done as well. Such as, treating sick cows, pulling a calf, breeding cows, and these things can’t wait for someone else to come take care of it. Right now there is no one that can replace Adam or I on the farm or the store. The farm doesn’t exactly take a week off just because we do.

But truthfully, we’re pretty content with that. Getting away can sometimes be more stressful than staying home, not to mention how expensive it is to find enough help to cover everything while we’re gone.

And then you get evenings like this and realize… we really do have everything we need right here.

Our home, our kids, our cows, our farm, and sunsets over the cornfields. It may not be everyone’s idea of a vacation destination, but it’s our little piece of heaven, and we’re pretty darn lucky to call it home. ❤️

Waitin’ on a Farmer… 😂🚜

If you know, you know.

Today we’re supposed to go help a neighbor cover their bunker before the rain. Adam called me twice to make sure I was ready, then called again to say, “We’re leaving shortly.”

So here I am… ready.

Waitin’ on a farmer. 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

Because “shortly” in farmer time could mean 5 minutes… or whenever that one last thing gets done.

There’s regular time, there’s farmer time… and then there’s the time you spend waitin’ on a farmer. 🐄🚜😂

Nothing fancy… just a breakfast that’s about as local as it gets. 🥚🥓🥛❤️

🥚 Vanden Wymelenberg Farm Goods eggs — from our very spoiled chickens who get plenty of table scraps, spend their days finding bugs in the garden, and thanks to the recent storm… are now apparently free range again. 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

🥓 Bacon from Tess Kramer — raised right down the road at my dad, Wayne’s house.

🥛 And of course, Lamers Dairy milk — because what else would we wash it all down with?!

There’s just something pretty cool about sitting down for breakfast and knowing exactly where everything on your plate came from. ❤️

Local food. Local families. Local farms. It doesn’t get much better than that. 🐔🐷🐄

And yes… the chickens are enjoying their newfound freedom a little more than we are. 😂
