One of Southern Illinois’ biggest holiday traditions is officially underway, as the Du Quoin Holiday Lights Fair has opened for the 2025 Christmas season at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds.
The annual attraction, which runs nightly from Thanksgiving through December 30, features miles of Christmas lights, themed displays, and a full drive-thru route around the fairgrounds.
The Expo Hall is also open on select weekends in December with dozens of craft vendors, holiday décor, kids’ activities, live entertainment, and visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
This year’s vendor list includes well over 100 small businesses from across Southern Illinois and neighboring states, offering everything from handmade gifts and baked goods to boutique clothing and Christmas crafts.
Inside the Expo Hall, visitors will also find model trains, contests, kids’ corner activities, and special appearances by characters like The Grinch.
Live entertainment is scheduled all month long, including performances by area school bands, local musicians, and community choirs. The event also offers horse-drawn carriage rides through Prince Carriage Company for visitors wanting the full holiday experience.
The drive-thru portion is open seven days a week from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is $15 per car on Monday through Thursday and $20 per car on Friday through Sunday. Bus and carrier pricing is also available.
