The California Interagency Incident Management Team has assumed management of the Autumn Lane Fire, allowing our local firefighters to get the well-earned rest they deserve after days of relentless work.
Before our crews head home to rest, we want our community to know just how proud we are of the extraordinary people behind Spokane County Fire District 4.
Over the past couple of days, our career firefighters of Local 5363, our volunteers, administration, maintenance staff and our support personnel have demonstrated exactly what it means to serve their community. They worked more than 30 continuous hours, responding not only to the Autumn Lane Fire but to other fires across our region. While many saw the work taking place on the fireline, countless others worked behind the scenes to ensure emergency services never stopped. Every member of our team stepped up when our community needed them most.
Our crews are now heading home to get the rest they have earned so they can return tomorrow, ready to continue serving our community.
To our residents, thank you. Thank you for your patience, your understanding, your encouraging messages, and the many offers of support. Whether you brought food and water, shared kind words, or simply gave our crews the space they needed to do their jobs safely, your support has meant more than you know.
Our hearts are with everyone whose lives have been impacted by these fires throughout the greater Spokane community. We know many families are facing uncertainty, loss, and difficult days ahead. Please know that you are not alone.
