Over 600,000 people per day travel in and out of Penn Station and the main entrance on 33rd and 7th is now lit by a fabulous illuminated ceiling fixture created by Apogee. This confidential financial services firm partnered with Gensler to redefine their headquarters presence in the Americas, creating a premier employee and client experience. Thoughtful design and furniture selection, access to charging locations throughout, and the firm’s suite of technology tools come together to create a workplace that truly enables “working from anywhere.” Hospitality-forward moments include a sky lobby reception, custom metal laser-cut media wall, sky lobby cafe, coffee bar, terraces, health and wellness facilities, and an innovation lab. The double-height trading floors boast 20-foot ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling windows flood the rooms with natural light, a stark contrast from a typical trading floor.

Case Study: Confidential Hedge Fund
Like several other large players in the financial market, this leading hedge fund decided to move out of the New York area and landed in West Palm Beach Florida in one of the area’s most upscale business neighborhoods.

While the move was initially caused by Covid, the company embraced the idea of a new locale and wanted an environment that was at once very special and also indicative of the company’s leadership position and ability to thrive outside of the traditional stronghold of America’s financial industry.

Gensler was hired as the architects of the new headquarters with the lighting designed by Lighting Workshop. J.T. Magen is the General Contractor. Apogee was engaged to create very customized lighting that very few if any other lighting companies would be able to successfully create and install.

3RD TRACK CARLE PLACE STATION, LIRR
When Long Island Railroad (LIRR) expanded multiple stations to add a third track, they were looking for a single lighting solution to run the length of each platform which also incorporated a comprehensive wireway system. Apogee’s decades of Transit lighting experience enabled us to generate this custom lighting solution that delivered platform lighting, blue accent lighting, a station signage band and wireway housing for camera, fiber optic, audio and all the electrical requirements.

167th and 174th/175th Street Subway
167th and 174th-175th Street Stations were also part of the MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative. Apogee Lighting’s upgrade included a new custom designed Platform Lighting System with integrated wireway and up lighting to showcase the beautiful ceiling improvements. Our Platform Lighting System was also used to accent the new signage, and our GC-36 fixture provided consistent lighting at the entrance ways and in custom signage applications.
