Roller shades to the rescue! The afternoon sun was brutal. We solved it with a blackout roller shade that blocks it all out but completely rolls up and out of the way when we don’t. This one operates with a continuous clutch on the right because a simple spring roller would be too hard to reach over the sink. The shade material is wipeable too; especially over a sink subjected to splashing. Easy AND attractive!

Tricky installation on these Hunter Douglas Silhouettes. The left and right were accessible but I only had 8” between the tub and window to get the old one down (with
31 year old brackets) and the new one up. Found a ladder just big enough to straddle the side of padded tub and allow me to reach the brackets— yay!! Measuring is everything!

These beautiful linen sheer panels are stationary. These were steamed, trained and left alone.Linen does the same thing on windows as it does when you wear it: wrinkles!! Unless stationary, linen is not recommended for functional drapery, unless you don’t mind a slightly slept-on look.
These are many very good faux linens available in a variety of textures and colors if you plan to open and close them regularly.

These are not your mother’s roller shades! All textures and opacities are available in an array of colors. These are manual rollers with classic valances from the same fabric. These are totally cord free for child/pet safety and operate with a simple tug to rise gently and evenly. Beautiful & classic!

Put these beauties up this week: triple top-pinch pleated drapery on Aria H- rail rods with wand pulls. The fabric was a fine wool sheer lined with Batiste. The fabric FELT so good just making them- so soft and they draped perfectly.
What you don’t see is the window spaces on either side of the fireplace were different sizes by a few inches but they appeared the same with some mathematical gymnastics
and a few years of experience. I love what I do and want you to love it too!

Some before and afters:
Less than 10 yards of fabric transformed this kitchen with curved inverted pleated valances. Adding royal blue cording on the lower edges was just the pop needed. Note how each section perfectly matches the next. So glad I paid attention in geometry class; you just never know when you’ll need it!

Completely relined this motorized Roman shade after the previous blackout lining completely sun-rotted. Because it matched others in the room (on a different wall and unaffected by direct sun) this was the best option without starting over completely.
If considering this, know that it is very labor intensive. Each stitch had to be removed to take it apart, and hand stitched back together using new and better lining.
