Before & after of a space designed for ultimate comfort. The purpose of the room stayed the same, but a few key structural changes shaped it, including a new wall to separate it from the “Hygge” space next door.

Furniture was also reworked to better support movie nights and slower mornings.

This is why we called it Essential Quarters.

Your room needs more than one light source because layered lighting is what turns a space into an atmosphere.

We often describe lighting as the “jewelry” of a room, the finishing element that brings personality and dimension into a space. In this project, we intentionally paired an overhead chandelier with shell-inspired sconces to create a lighting composition that feels both functional and sculptural.
The warmth of the wood elements casts soft shadows across the ceiling, adding movement and texture throughout the room. Meanwhile, the sconces frame the sofa and offer a moodier, more intimate setting, while the chandelier provides brightness and energy when needed.

Our clients’ individual lifestyles, perspectives, and routines are ultimately what shape the outcome of every project.

For this first-floor renovation, we worked with a young family searching for spaces that could encourage conversation, comfortably hold a crowd, and elevate routine. From the beginning, they had a strong sense of how they wanted each room to function, especially the “Hygge” room, imagined around the Danish philosophy rooted in warmth, gathering, and restoration.

With their clarity of vision and our design expertise, we were able to collaboratively shape a home that feels deeply personal to the way they live, host, and connect with others.

Custom millwork is a part of our studio practice that truly does not receive enough spotlight.

It finds its way into nearly every project in some form, whether a client is asking for a custom open bar, built-in storage, or a furniture piece that simply does not exist on the market.

Through millwork, we design and build pieces that synthesize functionality and distinctive details tailored to the home and the people living within it.

In the craftsmanship world, “millwork” refers to custom wood-based design and fabrication. For us, it is one of the most meaningful stages of the process because it transforms ideas from sketches and screens into something tangible and lasting within a client’s space.

We also believe deeply in honoring the craftsmen behind the work: the people whose skill and precision make these ideas possible in the first place.
