Kids are back to school, and Mom’s making a big change too! As of today, you’re looking at the new Interior Design Studio Lead at EVstudio in Boise (with an office in Denver too)! I’m so excited for this new opportunity to help create and shape something amazing. First floor additions are pretty common, but if you’re tight on yard space, have you considered a POP TOP? Not for the faint of heart, this type of addition takes careful planning and structural work to execute. But, once done, you’ve doubled your living space without having to lose that killer backyard. Here’s a beauty we’ve been working on for the last few months. I see homes all over Boise’s historic district that would be perfect for this solution! 4 bedrooms near Hyde Park? Sign me up!!

Designing beautiful spaces isn’t all fun and games…there is an amazing amount of technical knowledge that goes into making them safe and energy efficient. I spent a couple days this week at the International Code Council’s annual code seminar, brushing up on some old skills and learning what’s on the horizon for Denver’s energy requirements for new homes. Such a great resource for design professionals to continue their education and keep up on ever-evolving building codes!

It’s magical days like this when homes come alive. We lay our tables with heirloom dishes and traditional recipes passed through generations. The smells of our childhoods and sounds of our loved one’s belly laughs vibrate the walls. We tell stories of our shared history, and make plans for the new year ahead. Home - this is what it’s all about. Thank you for letting me be a part of your home’s story this year - I am forever grateful. Happy Thanksgiving from our home to yours!

The finished Design will feature tiered wrap around seating with built-in planters, lots of natural materials, and even some hidden storage inside bench steps.
