Mantis Bookshelf | SH Collection. The Mantis took shape through its tall, slender structure and the distinctive stone inlays that give the piece an almost watchful character. Its silhouette recalls the alert posture of a praying mantis, especially in the way the upper section seems to hover above the lower volume.

For Eau, the light above the dining table began as many of our custom pieces do: with Simon working through proportion, material, and light by hand, shaping an object specifically for the room it would inhabit.

Sandblasted huanacaxtle forms a series of suspended rings, perforated irregularly so that light emerges through the wood rather than simply falling from above. Leather belts hold the composition in place, adding another tactile element to the piece.

Its scale responds directly to the dining area and to the broader material language of the residence, where textured woods, stone, and warm surfaces soften the alpine setting. Designed for this particular interior, the lamp is both a source of light and an example of how Simon’s vision moves from an initial gesture into something made specifically for the way a space is meant to be lived.

The Ruth Lounge Chair was born from the friendship between artist Edgar Orlaineta and Simon Hamui, and from a shared interest in the
intersection of art, design, and fabrication. Developed as part of
Variations on Non-Euclidean (Miss Expanding Universe), the chair
draws from the world of dancer Ruth Page, the sculptural work of Isamu Noguchi, and modernist architecture. Its angular walnut structure translates those references into a functional object, combining a strong sculptural identity with the material and technical knowledge required to bring the piece into being.

Dosel — Polanco, Mexico City. The Meditation Room offers a more intimate counterpoint to the apartment’s open and fluid common areas. Its purpose is intentionally flexible, moving between listening to music, playing the piano, reading, meditating, or simply resting in the suspended chair.

Warm textures, acoustic treatment, and soft indirect light create a more contained atmosphere, while a hidden door allows the room to close for privacy or open seamlessly back into the rest of the home.

Long enough to accommodate several people, yet narrow enough to keep them close, it creates the kind of proximity that makes a conversation feel more intimate. Its scale gives it presence in a room, while its openness allows people to approach it from either side and use it without a fixed arrangement.

Stone and metal intersect to create a structure balanced between weight and lightness. The stone anchors the piece, while the metal lines frame it and continually change the way it is perceived. As one moves around the bar, the volumes overlap, separate, and realign, making perspective part of the experience of the piece.

More than 30 years ago, near the forest of Desierto de los Leones, Simon Hamui had a small house where he began developing projects in his own particular way. Close by, a workshop gradually took shape—a place where ideas could be drawn, tested and made without losing continuity between design and ex*****on.

Over the years, the workshop expanded as the work demanded new spaces, materials and forms of expertise. Generations of artisans have worked there, some alongside the studio for decades, passing on knowledge while continuing to adapt it to each project. The relationship between designers and makers became part of the studio’s persona, where conversations and ideas were adjusted and materials offered possibilities not visible before.

The workshop today is very different from the one that stood there in the beginning, yet its purpose remains closely connected to that origin. It is still a place where ideas evolve through conversation, observation, experimentation, and the experience of making them real; and where Simon’s way of working has, over the years, become the vision of the studio.

Spa P14 was imagined as a calm meeting point between different generations living within the same residential complex. The intention was to create a space that felt contemporary enough to speak to younger residents, while remaining warm, comfortable, and familiar for those who had known the building for much longer.

That balance appears throughout the project. The sauna, the treatment rooms, and the shared relaxation areas are composed through symmetry, soft light, and a restrained material palette that gives the space a sense of order without making it feel rigid. Warm wood, coral-toned plaster, pale surfaces, and indirect illumination soften the architecture and create an atmosphere that feels serene from the moment one enters.

This custom table began with a simple idea: to make its curves feel softer and more natural, so the piece would read almost as a group of volumes gently resting on one another.

Looking at a screen it looked resolved, but changed once it existed in wood. The silhouettes were adjusted by hand, the transitions refined, and the base was shaped to feel less like a flat board and more like a solid form with its own movement.

That process also meant paying attention to the material as it revealed itself. Each face of the poplar was chosen along the way, then carved, sandblasted and finished with white oil to bring out the grain and give the surface a soft texture.
The custom table feels organic, its not attempting to reproduce anything specific from nature — more like a piece expressed itself through drawing, making and looking.

Spa P14 redefines the shared relaxation areas of a residential complex, with the whirlpool bath expressing the project’s broader atmosphere.
