Spa P14 was imagined as a calm meeting point between different generations living within the same residential complex. The intention was to create a space that felt contemporary enough to speak to younger residents, while remaining warm, comfortable, and familiar for those who had known the building for much longer.

That balance appears throughout the project. The sauna, the treatment rooms, and the shared relaxation areas are composed through symmetry, soft light, and a restrained material palette that gives the space a sense of order without making it feel rigid. Warm wood, coral-toned plaster, pale surfaces, and indirect illumination soften the architecture and create an atmosphere that feels serene from the moment one enters.

This custom table began with a simple idea: to make its curves feel softer and more natural, so the piece would read almost as a group of volumes gently resting on one another.

Looking at a screen it looked resolved, but changed once it existed in wood. The silhouettes were adjusted by hand, the transitions refined, and the base was shaped to feel less like a flat board and more like a solid form with its own movement.

That process also meant paying attention to the material as it revealed itself. Each face of the poplar was chosen along the way, then carved, sandblasted and finished with white oil to bring out the grain and give the surface a soft texture.
The custom table feels organic, its not attempting to reproduce anything specific from nature — more like a piece expressed itself through drawing, making and looking.

Spa P14 redefines the shared relaxation areas of a residential complex, with the whirlpool bath expressing the project’s broader atmosphere. Enclosed by warm, continuous surfaces and softened by indirect light, the space feels protected without becoming isolated, positioned alongside areas that can accommodate larger groups.

The whirlpool bath was not conceived as a separate amenity, but as part of an area that can either provide privacy or open toward the rest of the spa for a more social experience. This flexibility expands the possibilities of its use within what ultimately became a contemporary

SH | 2026 — In a private residence in Mexico City, the bathrooms follow the same controlled language that defines the residence.

In the guest bathrooms, monolithic stone pieces are suspended from the wall and paired with backlit mirrors, introducing depth without adding visual noise. The space reflects the project’s broader approach, where repetition and material continuity define the detailed sensorial experience

Acuyo | Layu | Umbra — Side Tables. Currently on view as part of Proximity & Interaction as a Spatial Practice at K’ab Juun , New York.

Together, the pieces reference the architectural language of Mexico, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens while drawing from cultural histories that continue to inform the studio’s broader design language.

Variations on Non-Euclidean (Miss Expanding Universe) — A Bibliography | A collaboration between artist Edgar Orlaineta and designer Simon Hamui, composed of the Ruth Lounge Chair, the Red Shift Table, and the Miss Expanding Universe bookcase, the collection traces a constellation of references across architecture, dance, and sculpture.

At its center is the figure of Ruth Page, the avant-garde dancer and choreographer whose work with Isamu Noguchi gave form to Miss Expanding Universe — a 1932 aluminum sculpture and performance object that blurred the boundaries between body, movement, and spatial construction.

The series also draws from the image of Page inhabiting a steel house by architect Howard T. Fisher, opening a speculative field where furniture becomes a way to think through choreography, structure, and cultural memory.

More than an exercise in form, the collaboration reflects a shared understanding of making — where craftsmanship, material knowledge, and artistic research operate as part of the same process.

Spa at P14 began as a focused intervention within the spa of a residential complex in Mexico City, and grew into a wider opportunity to reconsider how a shared wellness space could shape the identity of the building itself.

The entrance became a key moment within that transformation, setting a new tone for the amenities through a calmer, more contemporary language.

Corteza, a wooden sculpture by César Núñez, acts as a focal element within the composition. The arrival sequence was conceived with water elements, tonal piedrín surfaces, a restrained palette of huanacaxtle wood, hiroco veneer, soft coral-toned plaster, and light tactile flooring.

Together, these materials create an atmosphere that feels grounded, serene, and quietly distinguished.

Proximity & Interaction | NYC

Simon Hamui Studio presents a selection of works from its collection at New York. The exhibition is organized around the reintroduction of listening as a shared ritual. At its center is a newly introduced music console — ALMA — from which sound is projected both forward and backward, extending into the surrounding space. The piece recalls a condition in which music structures domestic environments, organizing attention and establishing a common point of focus.

Also included are works developed in collaboration with artist as part of Variations on Non-Euclidean, referencing the work of Isamu Noguchi and Ruth Page’s avant-garde dance practice. These works extend the exhibition’s central premise beyond sound, introducing movement as a structuring element within space. If the console organizes the act of listening, the pieces introduce choreography as a parallel structure, linking sound, movement, and form within a unified composition.

Featuring collaborations with Edgar Orlaineta, René Bouchara, César Núñez, and Emmanuel Picault.
