An update on our mountain cabin kitchen as it continues to take shape.

This is the stage where everything begins to shift. Each layer adds depth, from the cabinetry to the river rock and tile, creating a more complete and cohesive space with every step.

We remain closely involved on site to ensure details are carried through as intended, including integrated elements like the hidden hood within the stone.

Looking forward to sharing more as it comes together.

We design with function in mind first, then beauty.

This approach does not mean sacrificing aesthetics, it enhances them. When a space works effortlessly, it feels better to live in. Clean sightlines, intentional layouts, and durable materials all contribute to a refined yet livable environment.

In this kitchen, we maximized storage and cooking space while integrating the iconic red k***s on the Wolf pro-style gas rangetop. Thoughtful design ensures every detail, from cabinetry to lighting to workflow, supports daily life without compromising style.

This garage is crafted in hemlock, a material chosen for its durability and warmth. But the final colors? That took multiple material samples, tests in changing light, and patience to get just right.

This tub needed a moment of its own.

We think our favorite design detail is the wallpaper. The pine tree pattern in a neutral palette brings the outdoors in, creating a serene, rustic ambiance.

It paired perfectly with the light gray tile and the natural wood planks overhead, all while keeping the tub the centerpiece of this primary bathroom.

Great design starts long before the finishing touches are in place.

In this contemporary mountain home, we carefully considered how natural light would move through the space. Skylights, upper windows, and expansive glass were positioned to capture Colorado’s seasonal light while working seamlessly with overhead fixtures and black roller shades for full control.

The space blends textures with stone veneer on the fireplace, charcoal-stained wood accents, and a stone kitchen island, all chosen to look beautiful in every type of light.

Swipe to see the framing stage, where wood and steel come together to support high ceilings and dramatic exposed beams. Even at this early stage, the skeleton of the home reflects the thoughtful planning that ensures both form and function shine once construction is complete.

The ceiling is one of the most overlooked design opportunities in a home. By color drenching this room in an earthy olive green, carrying the tone across both walls and ceiling, the space feels cohesive and immersive. The shade reads as a neutral while offering more visual interest than standard white or gray. Removing the contrast of a default white ceiling softens the overall look and can even make the ceiling feel higher.

Loved working with Markel Design Group on this beautiful mountain home.

Wallpaper has a way of transforming a space, especially when it is allowed to lead the design.

The Forest Toile Green wallpaper by Sandberg brings depth and movement to this bathroom, setting a rich, layered foundation.

We curated the furnishings and accessories to support the pattern rather than compete with it, pairing aged bronze tones with brushed steel lighting and clear fluted glass. The contrasts add texture and dimension, complementing the wallpaper without overwhelming the space.
