Weekends mean I don’t cook much, and we get to enjoy some great meals out.

Yesterday, the rain cut our outside work short, so we called it a day and headed to for snacky snacks and drinks. The Mexican pizza topped with barbacoa was ridiculously good, and the Baja Shrimp was crispy, flavorful perfection. The batter is light and fried in beef tallow, which gives it an extra layer of deliciousness.

Since we ate early like the old people we are, we still had plenty of time to explore. We ended up at , just a quick three-minute drive away. The bartender actually tasted the wine before pouring it to make sure it had not turned, then thoughtfully opened a fresh bottle when it wasn’t. I would’ve loved a real wine glass, but honestly it felt like I was having a glass at my nonna’s house. 😂 The Boulevardier made with rye was excellent, too. The space is small, comfortable, cheerful, and stocked with games. This is Perennial’s third location, and while we’ve visited the Lockwood location several times, this was our first stop here. They offer a small sandwich menu, but they frequently sell out, so eat before you go.

Today’s stop has been on our list for a while. in Pacific absolutely lived up to the hype. We already had meat going on our smoker at home, so we went with the burger and were not disappointed. Freshly ground almost daily and cooked perfectly. Charlotte was an absolute delight—cheerful, funny, and a fantastic server. Jerry greeting guests from the end of the bar was a special touch you just don’t see very often anymore. You leave feeling full, welcomed, and appreciated. I’m not sure why we waited so long to visit. Next time, it’s going to be the fried chicken… and maybe a BBQ platter too.

10/10 food finds this weekend!

Checked out the newest Mexican spot in in Chesterfield last night and honestly, it made for such a fun Friday evening. We only waited about 20 minutes and were able to grab a spot on the patio.

The food was moderately priced, the margarita and cocktail selection was extensive, and the service was excellent from start to finish.

Skip the street corn though — it was just meh for me. Canned corn with cotija and mayo didn’t exactly give “street corn.” But to be fair, I’ve set the bar pretty high with my own recipe. 😅

Ricardo was fantastic, and the staff as a whole was constantly moving around making sure everyone was taken care of.

The atmosphere at The District was the real standout. Families watching baseball on the big screen, kids running around playing, friends gathering, chatting, drinking beer— just one of those perfect early summer nights where everyone seemed happy to be out enjoying themselves.

Definitely worth checking out!

Another dish I will be recreating at home! The Grilled Rainbow Carrots at were 10/10 no notes! Cooked to perfection and placed over a bed of muhammarra (a Turkish roasted red pepper sauce) and lemon toum with pepitas and cilantro. It’s a dish that is utterly addictive in all the right ways!

Big shout out to Chef Cameron for the conversation and chili crisp, Bartender Ben for just being great and showing me a red wine from Spain that I have never had… which is crazy to think since I work at a wine bar, server Mikey, and another bartender we failed to get the name of (he’s from Hawaii).

If you haven’t been to Perennial on Lockwood, what are you waiting for??

Let’s be real… some THC drinks? Not it.
But THESE? Delightful little cans of fun. 🥂

The Roadie packets are a game changer—throw one in your purse, add your favorite mixer (club soda, ginger ale, flavored sparkling water 👀), and you’re set wherever you go.

They even have an unflavored option, which means the possibilities are endless…
Mocktail mimosa with OJ + club soda?? Say less. 🍊✨

You can find the cans locally (I grabbed mine at Dirt Cheap | STL Liquor Store and Total Wine & More St. Louis, MO), but the Roadies I’ve only spotted online so far.

POV: As someone who’s never been into smoking or gummies—these are an easy, enjoyable intro.
Just… maybe don’t have two on an empty stomach unless you wanna feel like you’re moving in slow motion 😂😵‍💫

Fun fact about me… I work at a restaurant and wine bar as my "big girl" job and once a month we host a special Wine Club event on the first Tuesday. The week is chaotic, I also work two other shifts, but to stay on top of things, I dedicated two hours to meal prep today- proteins, salads, rice, and potatoes for quick lunches and dinners. With Easter leftovers, we're all set for the week.

The best part? Meal prep doesn't have to be complicated. These ready-to-go staples can be mixed and matched into salads, tacos, or sandwiches.

What are you prepping for the week?

If you enjoy good Mexican food, here is a quick review of two we visited recently.

The Mexican Barrel House has a lot of work to do to provide the service for such a large space. From the moment we walked in, to the moment we walked out we felt unwelcome and a burden. Can’t speak of the food, we left before we could order. The menu didn’t look too bad, but honestly felt like Mexican version of a Chili’s menu. Chili’s is a great spot, don’t get me wrong, but just not something I was expecting from a more upscale spot. Try this one in a few months maybe after they work out the kinks.

The Mexican STL was perfection from the moment we walked in until the moment we walked out. They’ve been open since the fall I believe and they’re doing everything right from the service, food, and bar program. The Carajillo was 🔥! We are looking forward to their first patio season. They have a fun outdoor space with astroturf and stage for live music!
