Up for sale is a beautiful, 100% natural Calcite Crystal Cluster display specimen. This unique piece features a dense, complex formation of interlocking bladed and dogtooth crystal habits that create a striking "crown" silhouette along its ridge.

The specimen showcases excellent geological character, featuring pristine crystalline transparency near the terminations and a beautifully patterned underside with visible rhombohedral cleavage planes.

A natural, warm tan-to-orange iron oxide webbing runs through parts of the matrix, giving the cluster a rustic, earthy look.

Because of its flat, naturally stable base matrix, this cluster balances perfectly on its own. It is ready for immediate display on a desk, bookshelf, or mineral cabinet without needing an external stand!

This object is a Japanese Netsuke, an intricately hand-carved toggle traditionally used in Japan to secure small personal pouches or containers to a kimono sash.

Key Characteristics & FeaturesMaterial: It is commonly carved out of high-quality boxwood (known for its fine grain and durability).

Design: Netsuke figures often portray compact, rounded subjects like curled-up animals, folkloric figures, or monkeys. This specific piece features a signature or maker's mark etched into the surface alongside two smooth cord holes (himotoshi) used to thread the fastening cord.

The signature on this netsuke reads 正友 (transliterated as Masatomo).🖋️

About the Artist: Masatomo (正友)The Script: The characters are carved in a semi-cursive calligraphic style (gyosho). The top character is 正 (Masa) and the lower character is 友 (Tomo).

Historical Background: There were historically a few notable master carvers working under this name. The most famous historical Masatomo hailed from the Ise Province (the Yamada school) during the 18th to 19th-century Edo period, renowned for his highly detailed, compact animals.
