In this 1904 home, we embraced the original bay windows and wrapped them in full, tailored drapery to soften the architecture and frame the light. A quiet, tonal palette of warm grays and creams keeps the space serene, while varied textures — from woven wool to plush throws — add depth and comfort.

A primary bath that feels both classic and quietly tailored 🤍

For this 1904 home, we balanced crisp white tile with a softly contrasting trim color to highlight the architecture without overpowering it. The subtle shift adds depth while keeping the palette timeless.

Above the tub, a recessed shade pocket keeps window treatments fully concealed, preserving the clean lines and allowing the natural light to take center stage.

Layered with traditional details and thoughtful restraint, this space feels original to the home…just beautifully refreshed.

In this extensive renovation, we layered classic architecture with soft, livable textures. Tailored drapery frames the original-style windows, while warm wood floors and neutral upholstery keep the space grounded and inviting.

Collected artwork, subtle pattern play, and sculptural accents add depth without overwhelming the room, honoring the home’s history while making it feel effortlessly current.

Timeless, comfortable, and designed for everyday living.

This 1904 home was taken down to the studs, including a complete rebuild of the staircase. Our goal was to make it feel original, not new.

We added extensive paneling for authenticity, layered in classic millwork profiles, and finished it with timeless details like stair rods and soft accent lighting.

Proof that the right details make all the difference.

How it’s going —> how it started

Ten years ago this week, I took a leap and founded Cook Design House. ✨

What began in 2016 as a “geez I hope this works” experiment has since grown into a multi-regional practice with an extraordinary team of five, leading projects from Boston to Kauai and from Palm Beach to Seattle. This year also marks 21 years in interior design for me, and I’m still just as inspired by craftsmanship, historical context, and the power of thoughtful spaces as I was on day one.

The recognition over the years has been deeply meaningful. ASID Crystal Awards, Luxe Red Awards, a cherished ICAA Jacques Benedict Award, recurring placements on the Luxe Gold List and Colorado Homes & Lifestyles Top Designers list, and features in Luxe (including a cover!), Colorado Homes & Lifestyles, 5280 Home, and more. But what matters most is consistently showing up and elevating the standards for our work and our clients, project after project.

In 2023, I purchased a historic 1922 home in Denver and transformed it into our studio headquarters. It’s a space that reflects our commitment to preservation and design excellence. As our studio’s momentum continues to build, I’m energized by what’s ahead: expanding our reach, deepening industry relationships, and connecting with design leaders across the country in more intentional ways.

To every client, collaborator, architect, builder, vendor partner, editor, writer, mentor, friend, and team member who has trusted and supported this vision... I thank you from the bottom of my heart. This milestone belongs to you, too.
The best is still ahead. 🖤

This kitchen was always meant to feel settled, as though it had grown into the house rather than arrived all at once.

Perimeter cabinetry in Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray grounds the room in a quiet and steady way. The island, crafted in rich walnut, brings warmth to the center - a place to gather, work, linger. All cabinets by Aspen Leaf Kitchens.

With the home’s history and lower ceilings in mind, we let restraint lead. The hood blends seamlessly into the cabinetry, keeping the eye moving and the room feeling open, uninterrupted. Instead of a statement overhead, a slim linear pendant by Ralph Lauren traces the island with just enough presence.

Quartzite countertops do what they do best: their natural movement softly tying together cabinetry, walls, and trim without asking for attention.

Nothing here shouts; everything quietly belongs.

This 1904 home office is quiet in all the right ways.

We kept the original windows - their proportions, their age, their softly wavy glass - and let them lead the room. They’re the kind of detail you don’t design… you honor.

Custom built-ins bring order without feeling heavy: painted in Benjamin Moore White Dove, with rich walnut interiors that add depth and warmth where it matters. Practical storage, but still beautiful with opportunities for display.

The walls are wrapped in a Phillip Jeffries navy herringbone wallcovering, giving the space a steady, handsome richness, like a well-worn blazer. And the wool plaid chair and ottoman lean into that same tailored feeling.

A room made for focus…and for staying awhile.

This home was a full gut + remodel, but because of its historic nature, we made the very intentional decision to keep the exterior exactly as it was. From the street, passersby wouldn’t even know a transformation is happening inside!

The lovely exterior facade had an extra-deep, shady front porch. The kind of porch that actually gets used. Big enough for a comfy seating moment and a porch swing, so you can sit back, sip something cold, and watch the neighborhood stroll by.

Historic on the outside, completely reimagined on the inside.
The best kind of remodel.

In this bathroom, the details do the heavy lifting. A tailored mirror that discreetly hides a medicine cabinet, a furniture-style vanity that feels collected rather than built-in, and timeless Carrara marble that nods to the home’s 1904 roots. Thoughtful layers, functional beauty, and not a single inch wasted.

When renovating this basement, the original 1904 foundation walls were literally dug out by hand to create enough space for additional rooms like this one. The transformation is a perfect blend of old-world grit and modern-day function.

To keep the space feeling bright, open, and larger than life, we leaned into color washing, painting the walls, cabinetry, and trim all in the same soft, timeless tone: Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter.

This monochromatic approach creates a seamless envelope that visually expands the room while keeping it calm, cohesive, and elevated.
