When an old client calls you and asks if you want to design a paradise away from home in Naples, Florida you do a happy dance and say yes! This was a dream project which started from the absolute beginning by working with the builder's team in Florida selecting all the materials, finishes and architectural elements all the way through flying down to purchase and stage all the décor. One of the best parts of being a designer is collaborating with other passionate creatives like Newport Knots textile artist Lauretta Converse. Her work with ropes, yarns and mixed media creates beautiful texture and movement from the miniature to the monumental scale. After a few initial mock-ups and structural tests of the weaving technique, Lauretta made this stunning piece which is now the center of attention in my home. As a made-to-order artisan, Lauretta sized the piece to my exact specifications and even provided me with a spectrum of color options for each element of the design. Large, blank walls can often be a tough challenge for a designer to fill but Lauretta's vast library of weaving techniques and exploratory textile creations provide an amazing opportunity to create a truly custom, one of a kind piece of art. Just started construction on this beautiful renovation! What started as an assist with selecting a new sectional evolved into reworking the layout and decor for the first-floor living space of this sweet cape. Heads up for the AMAZING closet transformation we're creating upstairs at this home too!

After a long wait, we finally received our furniture to finish out this complete transformation. We still have to finalize the styling but it was too good to not share something!

As we get close to wrapping the renovation in Denville, I can finally share some more finished photos! This custom piece of millwork was designed to replace a rolling ping pong table storage cart and billiard cue rack. Because of the size of the tables, the goal was to make them disappear into the wall and provide a central place to organize all the game accessories. From sketches to shop drawings then to fabrication, this design came out even better than we had hoped!
