Great post from our friends at Boesen The Florist. ๐ธ๐ผ
It was during the Iowa State Fair in 1923 that newlyweds, Theodore and Elizabeth Boesen, travelled by train to Des Moines from Evanston, Illinois, to look at a Flower Shop and Greenhouse for sale. The fair didn't have the record breaking numbers we know today, but still, the town was bustling. Packed streetcars, full hotels, busy cafes. It was a sure bet- they bought the business that day.
When they returned three weeks later, the fair was over, the crowds had vanished and the flower shop was sitting in the sleepy little neighborhood of Beaverdale. The newlyweds had no choice but to roll up their sleeves and make it work. 103 years and 4 generations later, their dream continues to grow.
