The oak slab coffee table in the photos is from a client’s father’s barn from when she was young. This tree would be roughly 300 of it were still standing. A true heirloom for their family to enjoy for generations to come.

Well…. I’ve had my workout for the day! This bar height table is solid red oak and boy is it heavy.

If you’re out and about at the Viz Dinner / Auction… this can be yours!

It is currently unfinished so the new owner can select the color that works best for them. I’m leaning towards the natural finish on this one.

Putting the finishing touching on a few cutting boards and serving trays this evening for charity auctions coming up.

I’ve been incredibly blessed to be able to do what I do here in the shop and having clients that appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into these heirlooms. That’s why I feel it is not only an honor to help those in need but a duty to do so.

Tonight I’m putting together one of the key components to a well done project… the color board.

Each client has an idea of what look they are going for with a given project…. And most of the time the color they are looking for isn’t exactly what they think it is. They’ve gone to their local hardware store and looked at the color options and selects a color only to be disappointed when they see the finished product in their home.

This happens for a variety of reasons… the type wood used… the lighting in their room… sometimes the same stain can look different from one board to the next with the same stain.

So… I use a cut off section that comes from the lumber used on their specific project. And we place this color board in the room the item will live so they can select the perfect match for their room.

This takes a little extra time… but it helps ensure the finished product delivers the WOW factor they are looking for.

So… on your next project… ask your craftsman for a color board…

Someone is going home with an incredibly heavy oak table!! Just dropped this bar height table off for the Chaminade Dinner / Auction.

The table is unfinished so the new owner can select the stain and finish that fits their home.

I had a ton of fun working on this one… the castle joints are time consuming… but so cool.

Time for a shoutout… there’s a certain respect between craftsman. No matter what you’re creating…. There’s just an unspoken bond… so I want to share with you a craftsman who is doing some great work.

Today I want to give a shoutout to a good friend of mine… TD. If you are e looking for a custom fishing rod…. He’s your guy!

The attention to detail and performance of his fishing rods… second to none! I can promise you… you will not walk into your local tackle shop or box store and find a rod that delivers the accuracy and holding power you will find in these rods.

To compare it to wood working… these are like the Festool of the fishing world. Sure you can fish with an off the rack rod… but once you experience a better way… it’s hard to go back.

So if you’re interested in a great fishing rod… let me know and I will personally introduce you to TD.

This particular board is going grillside with its new owner! Cherry makes a great grillside companion… it will age well and look better and better the more use it gets!
