This week at the house is a mix of visible progress and a little waiting.

The window framing has started, the living room beam mockup is helping us see the scale, and the remaining mudroom wall and primary bedroom ceiling are paused until more shiplap arrives.

Building has taught me that several things can be true at once. A project can feel slow and still be moving forward. 🤍

The final plumbing fixture reveal is here! 🤍

Part 3 includes the fixtures for our kitchen, butler’s pantry and downstairs wet bar. It feels so good to finally take these pieces out of their boxes and see the finishes and details we chose in person.

They will eventually be surrounded by cabinets, countertops and all the finishing layers, but for now, here is another little glimpse of what is coming together.

Today’s Thrifty Thursday is less about one new find and more about how the whole room will feel. 🤍

I created a collected cottage kitchen and dining mood board using our white farmhouse table, warm cane counter stools, soft blue floral pillow covers and one perfectly imperfect thrifted bowl.

The newer pieces create the foundation, but the old bowl is what keeps everything from feeling too polished or pulled from one catalog. That mix of old, new, useful and personal is where a house begins to feel like home.

The wallpapers are finally here, and seeing them in person makes these rooms feel one step closer to finished. 🤍

I was already leaning toward the soft blue floral for our little powder bath, and it also received the most votes from all of you. I think we made the right choice! It will go above the White Dove beadboard and pair with our soft painted vanity, Calcutta Rusta quartz and warm brass details.

The neutral floral is going in the butler’s pantry, where it will add a quieter layer of pattern and warmth.

They are different, but both feel so right for our home. Soft, collected and full of cottage charm, one room at a time.

The latest house progress is happening overhead. 🤍

Shiplap has started on the living room and foyer ceilings, and the primary bedroom is still waiting for its turn. Even without the finished beams or lighting, the texture is already changing how these spaces feel and adding the cottage character we’ve been envisioning.

Plumbing Fixture Reveal, Part 2! 🤍

This time I’m sharing the fixtures we chose for the downstairs lake bath, guest bath and laundry room.

I was able to see and choose these fixtures in person, which made such a difference. I wanted each one to feel warm, timeless and fitting for the soft cottage style we’re creating throughout the lake house.

It’s so exciting to finally see these choices coming out of their boxes! Which of these three spaces are you most excited to see finished?

The dining nook is not finished yet, but pulling the colors, textures and pieces into one place helps me see where it is headed.

Pale Oak and White Dove keep the backdrop soft, Cairo Oak adds warmth, and the pillow covers will bring pattern to the built-in bench. We’re still deciding between vertical shiplap or beadboard for the wainscoting.

The slipcovered chairs add another soft cottage layer, and I also bought cream slipcovers so I can change the look with the seasons. Farmhouse feels like the scent for this room warm, familiar and made for gathered mornings. 🤍

Tile is one of those choices that feels completely different once it leaves the sample board and starts covering an actual room.

The bathrooms are finally beginning to take shape, and seeing the patterns installed makes every decision feel much more real. Some areas are still in progress, but this is the first glimpse. 🤍

This week I found myself noticing more than the visible progress. I noticed the people behind it.

A house is built by so many hands people who measure carefully, prepare the next step, solve unexpected problems, clean up at the end of the day and keep showing up.

Today I’m especially grateful for every person helping move this home forward.
