Pophouse Design Positively impacting people through informed, curated, and human-centric design.

Started in 2013, Pophouse is a full-scope design studio focused on the built environment. Located in Detroit, Michigan, we work on both commercial and residential projects with a specialty in workplace, hospitality, and retail as well as home office design. Our team of designers and strategists work to positively impact people through interior, industrial, and environmental graphic design. Leveraging industry research and business intelligence, we begin every project with a meaningful strategy that informs our design narrative. That design narrative is then carried through every aspect of the project including finishes, space plans, custom furniture, branding, wayfinding, signage, and artwork to transform the space into one that highlights your culture, increases productivity, and optimizes business outcomes.

We are excited to share a first look at Rocket’s new office at Hudson’s Detroit. This design brings leadership, collaboration, and culture together in a space that feels both elevated and approachable. The interior establishes a visual connection to the building’s architecture through environmental graphics, materiality, and integrated brand language.

“I wanted the architecture and the design details to be of the period but less serious and more unexpected in my furnishings,” Gilbert says of her Palm Beach residence. “I love fine art as well as craft and feel the lines can be blurred, what really resonates with me is color and surface, how those translate to texture and form.”

“When Jennifer Gilbert first stepped into the living room of a 1922 oceanfront mansion in Palm Beach, Florida, designed by Marion Sims Wyeth, a premier architect of the area’s Gilded Age glamour, she knew it was for her.

‘This was a dream project for me,’ she says. Gilbert personally curated every room, mixing distinctive one-offs and vintage finds—like a pair of 1950s Italian side tables in the living room she had recently bought at a Paris flea market—with vibrant works of modern and contemporary art culled from her vast collection of over 500 pieces.“

Cheers to another incredible year of Common Thread 🥂 It was an incredible morning of networking, panel discussion, and an exclusive tour of Hudson’s Detroit.

It is important for our team to create a platform that enables authentic connection between industry leaders and young professionals while uniting the diverse variety of design disciplines thriving in the city.

Huge thank you to our speakers Paulina (PLAYGROUND DETROIT), Matt (Progressive Companies), Ian (Donut Shop), and Jon (Pophouse) for sharing their unique journeys into design.

By collaborating with a wide range of Detroit-based artists, we aim to celebrate the community’s creative spirit while bringing fresh, meaningful perspectives into each of our projects.

“Frank Lepkowski explores the role of modern technology in society, both in his subject matter and his artistic process. He builds software applications that rely on human touch as the primary form of interaction, creating multi layered compositions that reflect the noise of the digital age.”

“akea brionne is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice examines the body as a living archive; a space where memory, ancestry, mythology, and lived experience converge.”

“Hannah Rose Dumes is interested in pushing color relationships as far as she can possible take them, to the brink of pop or kitsch, and then back towards states of harmony and beauty.”

“ivan montoya is a Detroit-based painter and muralist. As a first generation immigrant, he uses motifs from the natural world and mesoamerican folklore to visually represent his experience of existing between cultures.”

“Martyna Alexander works in a diverse range of painting and 2D media to explore the subconscious world stemming from our innate biological and cultural pasts.”

“Tyrrell Winston’s artwork is a result of years of collecting, organizing, and reconfiguring discarded objects.”
