Elemental Pottery Wood-fired pots made by Eric Friedericks. I have been an artist-in-residence at Bethel Horizon's Adamah Studios since October of 2011.

Prior to that, I was firing out of my own kiln in Brodhead, WI which I built after an apprenticeship with Tony Winchester. My first experience with clay was under Tom Hubbel at Dana College in Blair, NE.

I got to spend a long weekend at Wi******er Pottery, getting their new salt kiln loaded and lit. I’ve known these guys more than half my life now. They’ve taught me way more than just how to throw a pot. Damn good times. Love you guys.

Kiln opening! We had beautiful flashing for such a short firing. Many of these pots had no glaze on them. Found out that we flattened cone 11 on the bottom, which just means the kiln is overpowered - a good problem to have.

Loaded and successfully fired! I fit all the pieces from my July open studio classes, my demo pieces, and any pottery we had laying around, with room to spare! It’s nice to be working with so much space. With Hanna’s help again, we made it up to temp in 16 hours without issue.
