Yeah!!!! How exciting!
IMPORTANT NEWS FOR LICKETY STITCH!!
Lickety Stitch Quilts, the quilt shop that has been such an integral part of the Lusk community and Niobrara County for the past 16 years, has officially changed hands. Jason and Shirley ZumBrunnen purchased the building and business at 206 S. Main Street in Lusk, Wyoming, from Karen and Dave Wisseman on October 13, 2026. The ZumBrunnens plan to reopen Lickety Stitch Quilts soon and will offer the same type of products and customer care that define Lickety Stitch’s legacy.

Shirley states, “We were sad when the quilt shop closed last year. It has been hard to see so many businesses up for sale and the Main Street of Lusk not thriving. We felt God was leading us down this path. We have adult children who are looking for ways to come back and be a part of the community. In order for there to be an incentive for our kids, or any kids for that matter, to come back to Lusk and Niobrara County, our Main Street needs to have thriving businesses. We are excited at the prospect of being able to build on the legacy of Licktey Stitch and see its success live on.”
The Wissemans opened the quilt shop in 2010 and, over the ensuing years, built the business into an important part of Lusk’s economic community. Along with drawing customers from all over Wyoming and neighboring states, quilters from across the nation would plan their traveling routes to come through Lusk to visit the shop. Quilting retreats occurring multiple times a year brought added customers for many of the other local businesses, helping significantly with the town’s economic stability.
Shirley, and eventually daughter Melody, will be responsible for day-to-day operations and will lean heavily on advice from the previous owners and employees to make the transition and re-opening as seamless as possible. A grand opening date has not been scheduled as it will take time to restock the shop. The ZumBrunnens assure the community they will be opening as soon as possible.
Lusk Collective Market will continue to operate in the north room of the building and Lickety Stitch will be housed in the south side. The two businesses will compliment each other and make a wide variety of merchandise available to the community.
