Story time! Well September seems to be my month where change inevitably comes knocking in one way or another. A year ago, life handed me a plot twist I did not ask for. One of those moments where you blink and think, “Well… that was definitely not on my bingo card.”
It was an interesting process to figure out what came next. I stayed relatively quiet, rode out the emotional rollercoaster as best as possible, and kept a relatively open mind (there were days lol) for what was to come. I tried to find new opportunities, even while hearing I am “over qualified” and dealing with the challenge on how to beat AI as it is a HUGE barrier to actually interacting with humans for opportunities (There is a million-dollar idea in that I just haven’t figure it out yet!).
After 6-8 months of frustrating “fun”, I had one of those “well why not” moments. Let's take my side gig, reselling and helping people sort through things, and turn it into a full company. Let me introduce to you Sand Stone Acres Vintage Finds LLC! I have been putting all of my skills gained throughout my "corporate and education careers" into creating MY opportunity - getting to help people who are facing downsizing and/or major life changes find clarity, direction, and calm. Parents moving out of long loved homes. Families sorting through decades of memories. People standing in a room thinking, “Where do I even start.” I bring steady support, clear communication, and a little bit of humor to make the process feel lighter.
Through the last almost 365 days to the day, I would not be here without my tribe. From my FOREVER work wives to my family and friends, they kept me in check and reminded me I am damn good at being a leader, educator, friend and overall human. They listened while I fought with the “you’re over qualified” or not being able to break through the AI barrier (there is a million dollar win in figuring that out). They cheered me on while I took this wild and crazy side gig to full time, and I am grateful for every single one of them.
It has been a year of growth, grit, and a surprising amount of joy. Turns out the detour was the path. Now I have to run with it at the 1000% I have always given in my roles and life journey.
So, if you or someone you love needs help in navigating “what next” (local or even far away), I am always open to connecting (referrals are great too)!
