d no idea what the next 115 years would bring. In the early stages of his famed carving career, Mooney could not find a store-bought knife to hold its edge while carving dense materials. So, at the age of 17, with knowledge from working in a local steel mill, he began forging his own carving knives, with great success. That led to his mother asking him to make a kitchen knife of similar quality, which he presented to her on Mother’s Day in 1902. Today, Warther Knives reflect the quality of that very first knife made. Using, high-quality steel, along with the sturdiness of handles our knives are designed and handcrafted with a unique combination of durability and comfort in mind.
