Gardener Bob

Gardener Bob When was the last time you thought about Gut Health? We believe that better digestion is the root of better living.

It's why every sourdough loaf, kombucha pour, and crunchy pickle is part of our belief that real healing starts with real, living food.

Hey friend,

One of the reasons I fell in love with sourdough, fermentation, and traditional food is because they remind us of something we've forgotten:

Not everything good happens overnight.

A great loaf of sourdough takes time.

A healthy garden takes time.

Building better habits takes time.

Even healing takes time.

We're constantly encouraged to look for shortcuts, quick fixes, and instant results. But some of the most meaningful changes happen slowly—one small choice at a time.

That's one of the reasons we make food the way we do at Gardener Bob.

Real ingredients.

Simple processes.

Traditional methods.

Not because it's faster, but because we believe it's worth doing right.

Whether you're working on your health, your relationships, your faith, your business, or simply becoming a better version of yourself, don't underestimate the power of small, consistent steps.

Sometimes the best things take time.

And that's okay.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us.

Running Gardener Bob's has been one of the most rewarding things I've ever done.

It's also been one of the hardest.

Over the last few years, we've grown from an idea into something I'm incredibly proud of. We've built a community around fresh sourdough, fermentation, real food, and helping people feel better through what they eat. For that, I am incredibly grateful.

What many people don't see is that behind every loaf of bread, every festival, every market, and every product on our shelves are thousands of decisions, long days, and a tremendous amount of responsibility. Add in some major life changes outside of the business, and I've found myself facing something I don't talk about very often: burnout.

For the first time since starting Gardener Bob's, I've had to intentionally take a step back and focus on my mental health and recovery. You may not see me around the store quite as much this month, but our amazing team is still hard at work bringing you the sourdough, kombucha, pickles, and everything else you've come to know and love.

One thing I've learned is that mental health matters. Rest matters. Sometimes the strongest thing you can do isn't push harder—it's recognize when you need to slow down and recover.

The good news is that I'm doing exactly that.

Today I'm kicking off a little birthday getaway across eastern North Carolina. No business agenda. No festival setup. No production schedule. Just a few days to breathe, rest, read, and recharge.

Thanks Everyone
-Bob

Hey friend,

If it feels like gut health is suddenly everywhere lately, you’re not imagining it.

But this isn’t just some passing health craze or social media trend that’ll disappear in a few years.

What’s happening right now is actually pretty incredible: for the first time in human history, we’re finally able to truly study the gut microbiome in detail.

For years, scientists suspected there was a connection between digestion, mood, inflammation, immunity, stress, and overall health — but the research tools simply weren’t advanced enough to fully understand it.

Now we’re discovering that the body is far more connected than we ever realized.

Your gut communicates with your brain.

Your nervous system responds to digestion.

The bacteria around us and inside us influence how we feel every day.

And while there’s still a lot to learn, our understanding of gut health is moving forward faster than ever before.

Honestly, that’s what started this entire journey for me.

I developed a severe case of SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth), and for a long time, I couldn’t understand why my body was reacting so strongly to food.

I had so many food allergies, and as someone who absolutely loves food, that was heartbreaking.

That frustration eventually became fascination.

I started diving deep into fermentation, digestion, gut health, and the way traditional foods interact with the body. That journey eventually led to sourdough, kombucha, fermented foods… and ultimately the creation of Gardener Bob.

That’s why we care so deeply about real ingredients, fermentation, and thoughtfully made food.

Because food should help you feel alive — not leave you wondering what’s wrong.

More to come in this series soon.
