Feeling stuck and hoping to find some direction on your home decor? Start with how you want to feel in your space. Pick a hero color that is like hot sauce. Delicious, but not poured on everything.
The 20% rule (easy designer math)
Your hero color should show up in roughly 20% of what you see: textiles + art + one statement piece.
Let your hero color live in moments, then repeat it subtly so it feels designed, not random.
Remember: bold doesn’t mean loud. Bold can be deep, earthy, moody, and still cozy.

3 things you have to know before starting a renovation that could save you thousands 👇

1️⃣ PERMITS ARE YOUR FRIEND, NOT YOUR ENEMY
So many homeowners skip permits to save time and money. Big mistake. Unpermitted work can void your homeowner's insurance, create problems when you sell, and leave you personally liable if something goes wrong. Always ask your contractor what permits are needed and make sure they pull them, not you.

2️⃣ "WE'LL FIGURE IT OUT AS WE GO" IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE SENTENCE IN RENOVATION
Every decision you haven't made before demo day becomes an emergency decision mid-project. Emergency decisions always cost more. Pick your tile, fixtures, and finishes BEFORE work starts, not during.

3️⃣ YOU ARE ALLOWED TO FIRE YOUR CONTRACTOR
If a contractor is consistently late, unresponsive, doing poor work, or asking for money outside your agreed-upon schedule, you can terminate the contract. Most homeowners don't know this and stay in bad situations out of fear. Your contract should have a termination clause. If it doesn't, that's a red flag before you even start.

Happy Friday!

I'm excited to share some snaps from my Spain adventures. I recently toured a 10th century Bath House in Cordoba, Spain, and I'm still blown away by its design. The ancient architects knew a thing or two about creating a functional space, each room flowed seamlessly into the next. The real game-changer was their underfloor heating system, which distributed hot water through channels beneath the floor. It was essentially a posh spa for nobility, complete with cold rooms, changing areas, and let's not forget the loo with a hole in the ground. The best part? The original tile floor is still going strong!

Hola from Spain 👋✨

We made it! After more than a decade of dreaming, 4 years of researching and 6 months of planning, My husband, 6 lb Chihuahua Brutus and I have officially arrived in Spain!
We are settling into our temporary home while we explore where to put down more permanent roots.
While Spain is still in full holiday mode with Three Kings Day today, I’m easing back into work and catching up on active projects while soaking up all the inspiration with a new time zone behind them. 💛

I’m excited for our new chapter, same commitment to thoughtful, beautiful, story-filled homes wherever you are in the world.
