I am expanding my Fob Lobby production by adding guitar straps to the existing lines of dog collars, purse straps, luggage straps, lanyards and key fobs. Here are some of my first prototypes and am working on some more iconic designs. More to come are on my work table…..

Extraordinary use of ribbon!

During the 1600s, and promoted in part by Louis XIV of France, the use of massive amounts of ribbon as both a decorative device and a method of proclaiming conspicuous wealth became immensely popular. There are large numbers of portraits where the sitters are wearing clothes laden with literally hundreds of yards of ribbons.
In 1667 Lodewijk van der Helst painted Adriana Jacobusdr Hinlopen, wife of Johannes Wijbrants as you see here. The amount of slender pink silk ribbon used on her sleeves, her hair, and most especially completely covering her stomacher is dizzying. It is so densely packed together it could be mistaken for some sort of dyed fur, (if the practice of fur dying existed then).
While her dress is actually rather sober, she also wears a large stomacher brooch and another jeweled ornament in her hurluberlu style hairdresser with its three handlebar curls to each side.
