Completing most of the labor herself, she became very familiar with the constructional process, materials, and communication of executing her own imagination in creative designs. Over the years she has transformed hundreds of commercial and luxury residential properties all over the country, as well as large and small hospitality branches. From bringing a clients vision to life, to creating the clients vision for them, Terri Coratola has an endless imagination for creating the perfect ambiance of any location. In 2001, Terri Coratola founded Terri Coratola Interior Design which has giver her the freedom and luxury to combine all her talents and experience into one exquisite, all-inclusive company. She has developed the atmosphere and structure to be a one-stop shop for all interior design needs. No project too large or too small for her attention, diverse expertise, and talent. Terri’s recent projects include the Focus Lodging Group (including Baymont Inn, Comfort Suites and Concord Hotel), Fort Rapids lodging and entertainment complex, Colony Square Condominiums in Florida, and numerous residential properties ranging from French Traditional to Modern to Eclectic. August is the absolute hidden gem of the design calendar. While everyone else is winding down summer, interior designers know that late summer is prime time to source those one-of-a-kind statement pieces that instantly give a room personality and soul.

Summer 2026 is seeing a beautiful shift away from predictable, high-contrast coastal styles (like stark white and navy blue) toward spaces that feel warm, highly tactile, and collected over time. The focus this season is on creating an effortless, lived-in luxury that embraces earthy vibrance and organic textures.
Here are the standout design movements and styling ideas dominating the season:
1. Grounded Warm Neutrals & Earthy Accents
Instead of stark minimalism, homes are leaning into "Midimalism"—a cozy middle ground that keeps spaces clean but replaces cold grays with warm, sun-washed neutrals.
The Palette: Creamy tallows, rich biscuits, and soft plaster pinks form the base.
The Accents: Instead of loud tropical brights, depth is being introduced through terracotta, rich ochre, muted pistachio, and sophisticated olive green.
The Ex*****on: Swap out heavy winter accents for lightweight textiles featuring soft, organic stripes or delicate block prints in these earthy pigments.
2. Rich, Lived-In Materials
Texture is taking priority over smooth, pristine surfaces. Summer spaces feel much more grounded when they showcase materials that look like they have a history or an artisanal touch.
Expressive Wood & Stones: Deeper, richer wood tones (like warm walnut or mid-tone oaks) are making a strong return alongside honed, statement stone tables or trays with distinct, dramatic veining.
Aged Metals: Replace ultra-polished chrome or shiny brass with unlacquered brass, bronze, and copper accents that naturally develop a rich patina over the summer months.
Tactile Fabrics: Lean heavily into slubby linens, lightweight cotton weaves, and even lightweight summer velvets for window treatments and throw pillows to break up flat surfaces.

The distinction between the living room and the patio has completely blurred. Outdoor spaces are now styled with the exact same intention as interior family rooms.

The monochrome room has evolved. Instead of just painting walls, "Color Drenching" involves painting the walls, trim, ceiling, and even doors in the exact same hue to create a cocoon-like effect.
• The 2026 Palette: Deep, muted tones like Benjamin Moore’s Silhouette (a charcoal-plum) or Sherwin-Williams’ Universal Khaki are replacing stark whites.
• Tonal Layering: If you aren't ready to drench the whole room, use "tonal layering"—using multiple shades from the same color family (e.g., three different depths of mushroom or olive) to create depth without visual clutter.
2. The "Fifth Wall" (The Ceiling)
Ceilings are no longer an afterthought. In 2026, the ceiling is being treated as a canvas for:
• High-Gloss Lacquer: Creating a reflective surface that makes low ceilings feel infinite.
• Contrast Painting: Painting the ceiling a deep, moody color while keeping walls a warm neutral.
• Textured Wallpaper: Using grasscloth or subtle patterns on the ceiling to add architectural interest.
3. "Authentic Materiality" & Fluting

• Fluted Millwork: You’ll see vertical grooves (fluting) on everything from kitchen islands and fireplace surrounds to bathroom vanities. It adds a rhythmic, sculptural feel to the room.
• Aged Metals: Unlacquered brass, bronze, and copper that develop a natural patina over time are preferred over "perfect" polished chrome.
• Raw Stone: Think honed (matte) marble, travertine, and soapstone. The trend is to let the stone look like stone, including its natural imperfections.
