Gorgeous custom quilt. It was all hand pieced, most of it was English paper piecing. King size with a flannel backing. I free handed around the center medallion and the hexagons in the outside borders. Kudos to my customer.

Some recent finishes. The custom quilt took a bit and turned out great. I really like the look of the hexagon quilt, love the bright and sunny black and yellow with bees and butterflies, and the star quilt is a beautiful more traditional pattern.

Had a great day yesterday with my sister in law Linda at the fair. Seeing these majestic steeds reminds me of dad and the fact he used to farm with a team of horses. They and him were gentle giants.

June was a busy month. Some beautiful customer quilts I had fun doing.

Demonstrates sewing the final seam to complete the 4 at a time flying geese. Final trim using Wing Clipper or ruler of your choice. The trimming can be done with almost any ruler you have on hand. I will post a video not using a special flying geese ruler for the final trim.

Tips for sewing flying geese, 4 at a time method. I prefer to use the Wing Clipper ruler and follow cutting size given in the cutting chart. I do not like drawing lines and sewing on them and then cutting apart. Instead I place a line of clue on the diagonal on the RS of the larger sqaure. Place smaller squares on opposite corners, just a bit inside the edge. See other video on reducing bulk where squares overlap. Then use ruler and rotary cutter and cut corner to corner. The glue holds everything in place. Sew on the diagonal and then press to the smaller triangles. Draw a line of glue from the center to the corner, place square -just in a bit from the edge. Cut on the diagonal and sew the last seam. Press to the wing. Use Wing Clipper to trim.
