Two options to consider for shower tile.

We will install three rows of 3x3 tile in the spice tile (sample on top of larger tiles) and then run a 12x36 tile stacked on top of the 3x3’s to the ceiling.

Option No. 01: white
White is the predictive answer for a shower tile. But hey, we’re not doing a predictable shower here. We are playing with color, tile size and texture.
Option No. 02: tan
Natural walnut cabinets and cork penny tile floors will also take up residency in this space. Why not go a little moodier and choose a tile other than white?

Which tile do you think the client selected?

Good design starts with an idea.

Bringing it to life takes skilled hands, hard work and a whole lot of people behind the scenes.

Today, I’m especially grateful for the contractors, tradespeople, makers and vendors who help turn my designs into homes.

Happy Labor Day.

I returned from vacation last week but, unfortunately, brought home an unexpected bug with me. As a result, I’ve had limited office hours while recovering and am still working through messages, project updates, and other items that accumulated while I was away.

I appreciate your patience as I get caught up and return to my regular schedule. I am responding to messages as quickly as possible while prioritizing time-sensitive project needs.

Thank you for your understanding. I look forward to connecting with you soon.

CALLING LOCAL ARTISTS + MAKERS!

I’m planning something special again at Deborah Ferrer Design Studio 📍Dunkirk, NY for Small Business Saturday: a one-day Pop-Up Gift Shop filled with locally made, thoughtfully curated goods.

And I’d love to feature you!

I’m currently looking for local artists, makers and creatives whose work would make a wonderful addition to the popup gift shop: artwork, pottery, textiles, jewelry, candles, paper goods, ornaments, small home accessories, specialty gifts and other beautiful or interesting things.

A little clarification on how this pop-up will work:
This will not be a traditional vendor event with individual tables or booths. Instead, I’ll be transforming the studio into a one-day gift shop and merchandising everything together as a curated collection.

I’m looking for makers interested in providing inventory that I can retail in the popup shop. Depending on the artist and product, we can arrange for me to purchase inventory outright or work on a sale-or-return basis, with unsold merchandise returned after the event.

My hope is to create a really fun shopping experience that celebrates local creativity + local small businesses while giving shoppers a chance to discover things they might not find anywhere else.

If you make something you think would be a great fit, send me a message with a few photos, pricing and a little information about your work. And please feel free to tag or share this with a local artist or maker you think I should know!

I can’t wait to see what we can put together.

When your hobbies and your career collide. And suddenly thrifting is considered work.

I’ve been collecting pieces for an upcoming event and apparently this assignment was made for me.

This is exactly what I love about design: not everything has to be new, expensive or perfectly matched to be beautiful. Sometimes the most interesting spaces come together one found piece at a time.

Consider this my official justification for every thrift store stop between now and the event.

It’s for work.

There is room for all of us.

One of the things I love most about this industry is that no two designers are exactly alike. We each have our own eye, our own approach, our own strengths, our own specialty and ultimately, our own client.

Another designer’s success doesn’t take anything away from mine. And mine doesn’t take anything away from theirs.

In fact, I think we’re better when we support one another. Share a resource. Answer a question. Make an introduction. Celebrate the beautiful project someone else created. Recommend another designer when you know they’re a better fit for a particular client.

I don’t need to be the designer for everyone. I just need to be the right designer for my clients.

There’s plenty of creativity, plenty of work, and plenty of room at the table.

Designers who support other designers are the ones who really get it.
