The phrase "hold fast" is used in the sailing world and refers to keeping a firm grip on the lines when the ship is passing through rough weather in order to avoid being thrown overboard. The phrase can be adapted into day to day life as a reminder to hold on and persevere through tough times. I've always found comfort during life's trials by being near water and I was fortunate to grow up very cl

ose to the shore of Lake Erie. It may not have been the ocean, but the sound of crashing waves and the hunt for beach treasures washed ashore were therapeutic all the same. After the untimely death of my fiance, I returned to my childhood home to begin rebuilding my life and I ended up spending countless hours down at the beach hunting for beach glass. It became a form of therapy and a much needed distraction from my grief. 3 years later I'm opening up this shop to share some of the beauty I found as I held fast through my roughest proverbial waters.

The highlight of yesterday was finding this most polite and not pinchy calico crab! I've seen many of their shells on the shoreline but I've never seen one in the wild before. This was such a happy moment!
