Guess where I was this weekend?!?

I didn’t have a rental on Saturday and Sunday so my husband, Corey and I set out on a mini-vacation with my sister and brother-in-law, Tricia and Michael. This was our 2nd vacation since we started farming in 1992!

Our first stop was the Packers game Friday night! I was glad to see a Grilled Cheese shop to support dairy farmers!! Corey and I have never been to a game nor to the eastern part of Wisconsin.
After the game we headed to Tricia and Michael’s camper in Kewaunee. Corey and I stayed in one of their cabins.
Saturday morning Michael made a delicious breakfast and then we took a drive to the northern most point of the Wisconsin finger to where you can take a ferry to Washington Island.
We had a great time sightseeing, estate sale shopping, telling stories and lots of laughs!!!

I didn’t have a rental at my venue Rustic Chic Retreat LLC this weekend.
Instead my son’s hired man, Chris Miller married Hope Conrad. I offered to help out with the decorations. They had a small private ceremony in Chris’s hayfield then a meal and reception in Hope’s parent’s work shop. Hope dyed all her table runners, had the wooden lanterns, crown bottles and flowers. I provided all of the other decorations. They used the white tool box to serve their desserts. What a cool idea!!

Last night in Durand the Durand Improvement Group (DIG) which I’m vice-president of held their final Music in the Park event with Chris Kroeze performing. We had an awesome attendance and great food provided by Club 10, Corral Bar and Riverside Grill and The Creamy Courier.
I also set up a table for Rustic Chic Retreat LLC to advertise my venue that is available to rent for bridal showers, baby showers, birthday parties, graduations, family reunions, crafting or any event you have in mind.
Rental rate is $20/ hour. I have a wide assortment of decorations that I can possibly help you create an inviting atmosphere for your guests at no additional cost.

I haven’t had a baby shower for quite awhile. Thanks to Rik Meixner for renting my venue Rustic Chic Retreat LLC to host a family baby shower for his daughter Mackenzie . They had come several months ago to check out my venue and told me the theme would be “Sea Life”. The only things I had to go with that theme were the baby blue table runners and lots of sea shells. I kept an eye out for items whenever I was in St. Vincent de Paul Society & Thrift Store Durand Wisconsin and was fortunate to find the perfect stuff. When Grandma-To-Be Mel walked into my venue she was so excited and exclaimed “It’s so cute in here!” They just added some personal touches and everything was set for the shower!
My grandsons even thought it was magical walking in my venue with all the decorations hanging from the ceiling!!

I try to make things work out when 2 people contact me to rent my venue, Rustic Chic Retreat LLC, on the same day. It worked out for Breanna Morris to host a bridal shower for Cheyenne Yoder in the middle of the afternoon.
I had an hour to pack up all the decorations from the first shower and then set up all the decorations for the second shower. My mom, sister and my son came to help me make the switch over. I’m very thankful for the extra help!! My mom said the best photo of the day was the one of her with her grandson, Travis!!

It was a beautiful morning for a party!
Thank you to Jordyn Radig for renting the Rustic Chic Retreat LLC to host a bridal shower for Kaylee. The theme was “Wildly in Love” with a wildflower design. I created all of the decorations for them. I had to enlist the help of my husband again to haul the “Flower Bar” stand in the venue. A friend of mine gave me the green wheeled cart just recently. I LOVE it!! It’s an awesome accent piece!! Thanks Lisa Aurandt!!

I decided to dress up my entrance at the Rustic Chic Retreat LLC for today’s special occasion!Thank you to Hope Conrad for renting my venue for her bridal shower. I knew she would appreciate the chicken feeder and skull. Hope’s fiance’, Chris Miller, works full time for my son on his dairy farm. Hope has been to my house many times taking care of their chickens that they were raising in my chicken coop or helping to corral Chris’ new pigs that he bought and would be raising in my feed lot area. Hope is quite a trooper to help with the farm animals.
Hope and her mom came over to look over some of my decorations and got a glimpse at all my craziness that I have going on to put these events together for my renters. Hope’s maid of honor is wearing a Terra cotta dress, bridesmaids dresses are light pale pink and Chris will have a navy blue tie so she wanted a mix of these colors for her decorations. I thought this was going to be a challenge for me!! Hope and her mom immediately were impressed with the navy blue Irish Cream bottles and the flowers that were in them. I love those and I hadn’t used them for any parties yet!

Sunday was a wedding day at Rustic Chic Retreat LLC! Kaylee DeLong contacted me just a couple weeks ago about availability at my venue for a place to have her wedding to Dylan Ratliff. I sent her photos from past rentals to give her an idea of what I had for decorations. She loved what I presented. In the meantime I picked up a few more decorations at the thrift store and a thrift sale to add to the mix.
Her guest list also grew in those couple weeks so I really cleaned out my adjacent garage and decorated that for extra seating.
I did all the decorations but Kaylee brought some personal touches to add him.
Dylan’s Mom was SO APPRECIATIVE AND AMAZED at what I pulled together for her son and daughter-in-law! She is from Tennessee and her daughter is getting married in September. She showed me pictures of the venue and the decorations that her daughter is making. On Saturday when she came with Kaylee to drop off supplies when my venue was bare she kind of jokingly asked me if I was available to come to Tennessee the first of part of September to help decorate for daughter’s wedding and then when they came on Sunday and saw what I created she told her husband that she would even offer to fly me down to Nashville to help decorate for her daughter!!
That is such a HUGE compliment and it fills my heart!! I meet some of the nicest people doing what I do!!

I had a barn quilt painting party planned for in my venue Rustic Chic Retreat LLC today for my own family but we decided to have it in my house. My aunt, cousins and friend were up visiting from Chicago and one of my cousins is retiring at the end of the month so we decided to throw her a Surprise Retirement Party too. My cousin loves Pooh Bear and enjoys hiking so that was our theme for the party. We had so much fun!!!

There was a HUGE party today at the Rustic Chic Retreat LLC!! Thank you to Deb Bauer for hosting a 95th birthday celebration for her Dad, Arnie. I left the lemon and blue decorations up from yesterday but added a few “Happy Birthday” gift bags for an added touch. Deb was anticipating quite a few people so I set up extra tables in the adjacent garage with a BBQ theme decor. Deb said her Dad likes to be warm so they set up a comfy chair for him outside under a shade tree with chairs for visitors. So many friends and family came to celebrate Arnie!!! For a while I sat out by the end of my driveway to direct traffic for parking! It was the largest party ever at the Rustic Chic Retreat and it was an awesome day!!
