🌻 This little flower field has brought me more joy than I ever imagined. 🌻
In the next few days, my next succession of sunflowers should be ready to bloom, and I can't wait! Every time a new crop begins, it feels like Christmas morning. But it isn't just the sunflowers that have stolen my heart—it's the zinnias too. Together they've created the flower field I've always dreamed of.
When my mother left Bob and me this land, we never imagined just how much happiness these 11 acres would bring us. Some people may see "just" 11 acres. We see a little piece of heaven. I honestly don't think anyone could enjoy their land more than we do.
My sister asked me the other day, "What in the world are you doing working this hard for flowers?" I had to laugh. I'm sixty-five years old, and for those who don't know me, I'm also an author (I will admit, I haven't done much writing this summer LOL). But this is simply who I am.
I think I've become a lot like my dad. He was always working on a new project, always creating something. Maybe that's what happens as we get older—we realize just how much of our parents lives on in us.
As long as God gives me the strength, I'll keep planting, growing, writing, and dreaming.
Every morning I walk outside as the sun rises, grateful for another day and thankful for the beauty God has placed all around me. My flowers brighten my mornings, and my hope is that every bouquet I share brightens someone else's day too.
Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me this year, stopped by my flower stand, or taken home a bouquet of my "Happy Flowers." You've made this first season more rewarding than I could have imagined. 🌻💛
