It’s been a little quiet around here, but for good reasons! ⁠

Several projects are on my desk or underway in real life- from an outdoor living space with pieces from to a 1930s whole-home remodel with bold colors and finishes. I’ve also stepped into a new role as Professional Development Director for ASID Tennessee (), and in a few days my husband & I leave for Greece to celebrate 15 years. ⁠

Three years ago, we started renovating the house next door, and everyone asked the same thing: "Are you moving in?" The answer was always no. We just couldn't stand to watch it lose its way more than it already had. This is the final chapter, and there's something only a few have known until now. The Granger Project- Chapter 7: Betty's House is on the blog now.

A little work update from my side of the drafting table:

Now booking full-service design projects for the fall and beyond.

If a kitchen that never quite worked, a primary bath you keep meaning to redo, or a new build that's still just lines on a page has been on your mind, this is a good time to start the conversation. Full-service design takes time to do well. I plan, I source, I work with your chosen trades, and we get it right before a single thing gets ordered - so the sooner we begin, the more room we have to do it well.

The first step is simple, and there's no pressure. Tell me a little about your project through my inquiry form, and if it looks like a good fit, we'll set up a complimentary discovery call to talk it through together.

And if this isn't you but someone you know - a friend thinking about a renovation, a family member building - I'd be so grateful if you'd tag them or send them my way. So much of my favorite work comes from someone I know making an introduction.

Years of designing kitchens, and this was the one I couldn't see. Maybe because I was so invested in the house, or maybe because I was designing it for a family I hadn't met yet, and might never.⁠

What finally broke it loose was a book from my friend and a floor gamble I wasn't sure would pay off.⁠

I bought the old house next door because I couldn't stand to watch it fall apart. A 1942 colonial with good bones & a great story, and three years later she's finally back to her best self.

Cleaning out an old house is slow, dusty work, & most of what you find really is trash. But a few things stopped me, and I set them aside without knowing exactly why. A brass doorknocker. A stack of blue handkerchiefs. A 1952 bridal portrait I couldn't bring myself to throw away.⁠

How did I become an interior designer?⁠

Well, if you ask my 3rd-grade self, I always wanted to design, and I clearly had major plans along with my bff Valerie Coats. (And what about our office wallpaper, rug, and our outfits?! Someone was watching reruns of Designing Women. 🙋‍♀️) ⁠
⁠
The dream had always lived in my head, along with a lifelong love of art & art history; I knew I'd find a way to pursue a creative career. I have my solo practice now, and my bestie is an occupational therapist (Dr. Val!). I'd say we both did pretty well, but we have toned it down on the outfits these days. ⁠
