With the completion of these next seven pages, I finally finished recording my trip to Washington, D.C. from September of 2008. I can hardly believe it’s been almost 17 years ago! Thank goodness I stopped being a chronological scrapbooker, or I would never get anything done!
The first two pages were done mainly using card stock, glitter stars and chipboard from my stash. They also feature a paper titled “Branches of Government Collage” from Paper House Productions, which I bought many years ago specifically for scrapbooking this trip. The next two-page layout was created using papers from “Adventure the World Awaits” from Paper Studio, and “Wild Field” from American Crafts. Again these paper pads have been in my stash for years. The fun interactive aspect about the first page in this layout was how I used metal grommets to form a pocket to hold brochures from the Library of Congress. The top of the pocket is trimmed with gold foil washi tape.I mimicked the look on the second page, but the interactive part about this page is the flip-flap that allows an extra photo and some hidden journaling. For the two pages documenting my visit to the botanical garden, I used papers from a 2008 glittered paper pad distributed from “My Mind’s Eye”(no name is listed). I created a pocket to hold a visitor guide brochure on this layout as well, this time using card stock and colored staples. My embellishments are glitter florals cut out from the paper pad, some vellum butterflies and Stickles. My final page is another floral paper, this time from Kiwi Lane club kit from February 2021, “Beauty in Bloom’’ and some card stock. The embellishments are made form a pocket card, a large silk flower, and tiny paper flowers that I made using a punch and som pearl beads. The total number of pages completed for the month of January is fifteen.
