In my experience, when something breaks your heart, you have two choices: you can spend the rest of your life looking at the pain, or you can acknowledge it, choose to heal, and take one small step forward each day.
The Aubri Brown Club was created by my very dear friends, Ami and Curtis Brown, whom I’ve been blessed to know for more than twenty years. They founded it in memory of their daughter, Aubri, who passed away from SIDS at just four months old. Through the club, they come alongside families who have experienced the unimaginable loss of a child, offering practical, emotional, and financial support during some of their darkest days. What began from their own heartbreak has become a way to ensure that other grieving families do not have to walk that road alone.
Although losing Aubri will always be part of this family’s story, it does not define them. I’ve had the privilege of watching their boys grow into truly remarkable young men and seeing this family continue to live with so much faith, love, strength, and joy. Together, they honor Aubri by turning what they endured into hope and healing for others.
I haven’t always been able to attend the tournament because of obligations with my own four, but after being there for the second time, I can tell you it isn’t just the spectacular views or the incredible talent we’re privileged to hear. It’s watching this family bring light into their own corner of grief.
I’m especially grateful that my girls and I have been given the opportunity to volunteer and help decorate for this beautiful event. Being able to serve alongside them—and bond through the blessing of serving others—is something I will always treasure. I feel truly honored that we can play even a small part in something that brings hope and healing to so many families. We’re already looking forward to next year, and we’ll be there—ready to decorate, serve, and support this beautiful mission all over again.
