LVP Wear Layer (Simple Explanation):
The wear layer is the clear protective coating/film on top of luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring. It’s what protects the floor from scratches, dents, stains, and everyday wear.

Why it matters (without overcomplicating it):
Thicker wear layer = more durability
Great for high-traffic areas, kids, and pets
Helps the floor look newer for longer

Quick comparison:
6–8 mil → Light residential use (bedrooms, low traffic)
12 mil → Standard residential (most homes)
20+ mil → Heavy traffic / commercial-grade durability

While flooring specs are important, try not to get hung up on them. Find the look and style you want in your home. Our project managers will help find that color/style with the durability to last!

Last week the flooring world lost an incredible person. Mike Scheer was a dedicated flooring salesman whose professionalism and personal touch made a lasting impact on his customers. Known for his deep knowledge of flooring and his commitment to finding the perfect solutions for each client's needs, Mike built lasting relationships based on trust and respect. His approachable demeanor and genuine care for his customers set him apart in the industry. He will be missed by many!

On Friday, June 20th, our store will be closed to attend Mike's services. Our thoughts and support are with his family during this time.
