Ilrid Vikings Inspired by her grandparents, Inga Britta & Lars Gunnar, Ilrid Richards began creating Christmas orn Nolo downtown Mpls.

What does one do with all of the beautiful fur coats our grandmothers pass down to us? I decided to honor my heritage and the people in my life who have inspired me by making Scandinavian Viking Tomtes. The Ilrid Viking line began with the original trio: Lars Gunnar, Inga Britta (named after my Swedish grandparents) and their troublemaker friend, Ragnar Rolf. Shortly thereafter, the clan grew to i

nclude the “crazy cousins”. They all have personalities with names like: Alvis, Orvar, Leif, Sigurd, Trygve, Loke, Ulf, Zigrid, Tyrkir, Torgny and Soren. Although I have been making similar tomtes over the years, this is the first year I decided to create 'Ilrid Vikings' and send them out into the world. Over the 2017 holidays the original threesome have been available at Ingebretsens, American Swedish Institute, The Scandinavian Gift Shop in Alexandria as well as D. They were a hit at the Morningside Holiday Bazaar, Mt Olivet Boutique as well as the American Swedish Institute’s Julmarknad 2017.
