I haven’t had a lot of time to dig into many jewelry projects lately. I have about a dozen pieces on hold while I wait for the metal market to be more favorable or have a big chunk of time to live in the creative space.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve challenged myself to do a few single day projects to keep my skills fresh. 1 project in a day, using only materials I already had on hand. No planning or sketching ahead of time. If I make a mistake, I just keep going. No backtracking for the sake of perfection.

I’ve ended up with 4 new pendants. If anyone is interested, they are available. All wrapped in fine silver wire.

I got this turquoise focal piece as a gift from my husband before we got married. I was still pretty new in the jewelry making business and he believed in my potential. As a gift, I was granted access to thousands of old stock gems and stones and picked out a hefty bag to take home to work with. Since then, I have sold many pieces, but a handful of cabs were kept aside for something special and this turquoise is one of them.

I started this piece nearly 2 years ago. I worked little by little unsure of what the big picture would be. I’m proud to present the finished product. It’s finally gained it’s wings.

Turquoise, 14k gold and gold-fill, leather, beadwork and wire weaving. A piece of me ready to fly away to a new home.
