Many of you may not know the true story of how SWT began - while the history did all start from a kindness project and finding rocks to paint and hide...then pivoting to a collection of little carvings and stones to place in our succulent collection. The true start became from a devastating and life changing incident
You see I used to be a 911 Dispatcher (a profession I worked so hard to get into, I loved it and I was good at it too)! I started working as a Tribal Law Enforcement Dispatcher, then switched to Fire and Medical Dispatching and my final hurrah was for the Sheriff's Department. I always strived to continue my training and skill sets (I was a Terrorist Liaison Officer, had specialized training in Crisis Response and Negotiation Tactics, Su***de Prevention & Awareness, part of the Mobile Response Team (Fire/Medical) and so much more! I promise you I've heard and experienced it ALL (the good and the bad)
Anywho, in 2021 I suffered an isolated incident to one of my hands while working a tragic incident. I pushed through the pain for days because my employer needed me (short staffed). I also put too much trust into our flawed Workmans Comp system and was a horrible advocate for myself. I basically let these Dr push me beyond my limits and permanently cause lifelong damage to my body. To-date I have endured four surgeries, so many Dr appointments, treatments, medications and am still left with chronic pain, limited mobility, loss of sensation to my fingers and a whole list of other things
How does Southwest Treasures fit into all of this? Well, it started because I was bored out of my ever-loving mind and had a few crystals I wanted to off-load from my collection...The response and encouragement to keep sourcing and selling was amazing and that is how SWT kept growing.
I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning-trusting and buying from shotty suppliers, but that sparked one of my 911 Dispatcher skillsets - to find the answers and the sources directly. We now work DIRECTLY with Miners and Manufactures from China, Madagascar, Dominican Republic, Brazil, Dominican of Congo, USA, Mexico, Peru, India, Pakistan, Morocco, Indonesia and many more!
