Excerpt from the book:

“Sir! Sir! Can you hear me? Sir!”

Joe struggles to open his eyes. Once they are open, it’s hard to focus. He’s still in his patrol car. He’s been knocked somehow out of the driver’s seat, across the radio assembly, and into the passenger’s seat. The driver’s side window is smashed out and glass is everywhere. Joe had bounced off of it and it shattered before he was slammed into the passenger seat. Joe sees the woman outside his patrol car.

“Ma’am, please help me out,” Joe winces, feeling the need to take control of the scene.

“Just stay still. The ambulance is on the way. My manager called for help.”

Joe passes out again. When he comes to, he is in the ambulance.
