Sometimes the prettiest vintage pieces are the ones we’re not quite sure what to do with anymore. ☕️💙

Teacups may not be part of our everyday routine like they once were, but they’re far too lovely to tuck away in a cupboard! Turn them into candles, pincushions, little displays—or get really creative and give them an entirely new purpose.

Here are a few simple-ish ideas for giving vintage teacups a second life, along with a peek at some of the pretty cups currently waiting to be discovered at Tillie’s Treasures.

Because sometimes a little repurposing is all an old treasure needs. ✨

A little Friday antique history! 🍇

This pretty grape pitcher and matching cup set has been hanging out in our booth waiting for someone to notice it — and it turns out it has a great American pottery story.

Dresden China was produced in East Liverpool, Ohio, a city once at the heart of America’s pottery industry. Sets like this one date to the early 1900s and were made as lemonade or beverage sets, with wonderfully bold fruit decoration and ombré accents.

More than a century later, the pitcher and four matching cups are still together — and ready for a new home.

There’s a reason collectors still look for the word Limoges on the bottom of porcelain. 🌸🇫🇷

Limoges became famous for porcelain after deposits of kaolin — the exceptionally pure white clay essential to making hard-paste porcelain — were discovered near Limoges, France in the 18th century. Combined with skilled craftsmen, it helped turn Limoges into one of the great porcelain-producing centers of Europe.

This antique William Guérin Limoges double-handled bouillon cup and saucer comes from that tradition.

William Guérin was one of the respected manufacturers working in Limoges during this golden era of French porcelain — and more than a century later, this little cup and saucer is still lovely.
