How do you fit a fitness studio, retail display, a 12-person workshop space, and waiting area for one-on-one wellness counseling into one narrow Center City storefront? You plan a space around flexibility that doesn't force you to choose between functions.

One of our favorite design elements in this space for maximum flexibility is the . This piece of furniture condenses into a sleek console against the wall when open floor space is needed for yoga or breathwork. But when it's time for a community lunch or workshop, it expands up to 9.5 feet to comfortably seat 12 people!

Design is all about problem-solving. When designing Whole Health Studio, our job was to translate a vision into a narrow Center City storefront while navigating the realities of the building shell.

We originally wanted to install fabric ceiling sails to dampen noise and give folks something soothing to look at. However, fire safety rules regarding sprinklers and the direction of the ceiling joists meant we had to pivot.

Our solution? We shifted gears to create a "garden" of light fixtures in various sizes and heights against a soft green ceiling. While the cluster of lights looks beautifully random, achieving it required a highly detailed technical drawing to map out the exact location, size, and height of every single fixture.

A sleek city condo might not be the first place you’d expect a pink door, but that’s exactly why it works so well in this bedroom! While the rest of the space stays neutral, the door paired with a salmon-toned patterned rug add just the right amount of energy. Rather than committing to four pink walls, this measured approach is the perfect way to embrace a vivid paint color without overwhelming the room.

To seamlessly connect this living room with the foyer and dining room, we focused on a calm, neutral palette. But neutral doesn't have to mean boring, we added soft ice blue accents through the artwork, pillows, and rug to add subtle depth.

Our design consultant, Jillian Moskovitz, kept the big investments timeless, like her grey sectional and white built-ins, then used bright pillows and artwork to bring the space to life. It’s a low-risk way to add major personality to a space.

In this living room project, we paired classic grey walls and white slipcovered furniture with a vibrant hot pink rug and matching pillows. The best part about this design strategy? It’s completely low-commitment. If the homeowner ever wants to change up the space, the rug and pillows can easily be swapped out for a totally new look without changing the foundation of the room.

Our most recent blog post discusses how the relationship between neutral and color is an ever-present topic of conversation in the design process. In this bedroom project, we kept the space calm and airy with neutral bedding and walls, but added a pop of personality with these vibrant green nightstands. The best part? They’re a Facebook Marketplace find that we repurposed with a fresh coat of paint! Choosing secondhand is not only the most sustainable option, but it also gives you a completely unique, custom piece with a story to tell.
