Hilltop Shoppe

Hilltop Shoppe Hilltop Shoppe was started 45 years ago by Mary Lou Record and Providence Chapel United Methodist Church. Open every year for the Spoon River Scenic Drive!

Her daughter Susan, & grandaughters, continue to carry on this tradition. Mary Lou and the ladies from Providence Chapel started selling homemade cinnamon rolls in the early 80's as a fund raiser for United Methodist Women. It wasn't long until her daughter Susan got involved while in high school to earn money for her class at Spoon River Valley selling everything from taffy apples to fried ice cr

eam. After enduring many years of the cold, timber was cut from the Sand Ridge State Forrest, and sawed by neighbor Frosty Thomas. Under the direction of Susan's husband, Brian Platt, the Hill Top Shoppe was built using post and beam construction.
