Some design choices come and go. Others quietly stand the test of time.

Natural wood cabinetry is one of them.

Whether it's warm white oak, rich walnut, or character-filled reclaimed wood, natural materials bring a sense of permanence to a home. They age beautifully, add warmth, and create depth in a way painted cabinetry simply can't replicate.

While trends may shift from season to season, thoughtfully selected natural materials continue to feel relevant year after year.

Designing a custom home is exciting, but there are a few decisions we wish every homeowner could make before construction begins.

The biggest mistakes Brooke and I see are: too few lighting layers, not enough dedicated storage, furniture layouts considered after framing, waiting until finishes are installed to hire a designer, and prioritizing trends over timelessness.

Every one of these can be avoided with thoughtful planning.
The earlier we become part of the conversation, the more intentional every detail becomes, from architectural decisions to the final styling touches.
